    I have a 1998 ext cab, V6, 4wd TRD. 166,000 miles on the original suspension :)

Stock bumpers, front and rear. No winch. No plans on getting any of these.

    I do have BAMF sliders.

Most of the time I run a topper but since it's been off the past 3 weeks (getting repainted) I kind of like the no topper feel. I am building a bed rack for what I think will be most wheeling trips. So weight on the rear is going to vary.

I do not wheel the piss out of this thing, but I do go on some moderate to difficult trails.

I'm looking to replace the suspension while keeping my 31x10.5 r15 BFG ATs.

I want a little higher than stock, maybe 2" above stock once settled.

Do I go with the 881s and Dakar rear leaf springs? (I will go nitro sports all around).

I've had conflicting opinions about the Dakars saying they will give me too much lift compared to the 881s. An inch of rake is fine, but I do not want to have it look like I'm driving with my ass way up in the air.

Those who say it will give me too much lift in the rear say I should get Alcan 5-packs from Wheelers.

But my thought process is stick to an entire suspension system since it was designed that way.

    Any insight is appreciated thanks.

You've already said all that needs to be said. Go all OME. At most you're looking at 1" of rake without the topper.

Sounds like you've got your shit together. 2" out of the OME setup will put a big smile on your face.

Thanks. How's the on-road feel of that set up?

I was a fan of the 886s and Dakars before I added all of the weight up front, truck handled better than my wife's Subie. Added on the armor, put in the 13mm spacer, and pulled the sway bar out, still like it on the road.

Thinking of trading my 885's for 883's and pulling a leaf from my Dakars.

Hopefully the result would be 1.7" lift in front and 2-2.25" in the rear. It would keep the same rake I have now but lower the truck a little less than an inch. I'd like to get some of the downtravel back in front and all in all it would resulting in a softer (feeling) ride and lessen the strain on cv's and other suspension parts. I know the 883's are 20mm (.79") shorter than the 885's but the same spring rate. This would result in 2.5-0.79=1.71" of lift.

These would be paired with my nitrocharger sport shocks all around.

Anyone gone this route on a 2nd gen double cab?

    Too few to list.
Why not 884's? for a mild 2" lift?

Thought about that. I'm trying to leave a little leeway in the measurements I've read. I've heard 884's give 2-2.25" and removing the 3rd leaf results in a .5-.75" height decrease (leaving me right at 2-2.25). I want to sit level when loaded, so I'm looking for a little rake when unloaded. I detest the bro-lean.

    Loaded for me means:

    RTT on Snug Top
    Camping gear for 2-4 people

    Appreciate the input though.

I don't think I've come across any 2nd gen with 883's. You could be the first. Dibs on your 885 if it's the X.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
I removed the 3rd leaf, im at 23.5" hub to fender with about 200 lbs extra weight on a access cab. Most guys with access cabs are at 25" or more unloaded. Even tho 883s are 20mm less than 885s they will probably reduce the lift by more than 20mm. What are your hub to fender measurments currently? I dont know from experience but i would guess 883s will be about 1.5" of lift or a little less over stock height.

Edit: dcsb 2nd gen with 883s here http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/270209-883s-wait-eibachs-2nd-gen-dcsb.html

Yes on the u-bolts. You are not supposed to need sway bar relocation bracket things with OME but i believe some people have issues with the sway bar contacting the coils. I have not had an issue and i dont have the sway bar spacers, but it wont hurt to buy them to be safe

I think i worded my post weird, i meant that some people have issues with the sway bar contacting the coils without sway bar relocates. The relocation bracket thing solves this issue. But according to vendors, the sway bar should not contact the coil with OME suspension, mine does not.

Or just ditch the sway bar all together. Try it, you'll like it :)
