I was pleasantly surprised by how many UH people are up here! I actually sit next to a mechanical engineering engineer from UH who I did my senior design project with heh heh

Here is the next big mod I did to my Taco....
So having a back up camera is nice...but having a backup, front, and right side camera is even better! I figured if you dont have someone riding shotgun then the hardest side of your truck to spot is the right...so I put a camera in the right mirror so I can see just how close that tree rock etc really is.

    rotary switch for the camera
    [IMG]

Camera in the mirror (I need to redo the RTV around the camera cut out)

I was pretty dang impressed by this thing last weekend. Not sure if it was the driving or the rig but nicely done.

Where did you move the dimmer to, or did you just hardwire it to max setting?
I'm thinking of doing 2LO mod and locker anytime, but running out of blanks.

Heh yea I ran out of blanks so the dimmer switch is just stuffed in my dash behind the pull out change drawer. I am thinking of either mounting them in my sunglasses holder or cut some new blanks below all of the switches there on the left.

    Spare Tire Bed Rail Mount

I have 255 85 r16 tires, and my spare won't fit in the under the bed spot. Plus if you need your spare out on the trail, it's a real pain to access. I have tried various ways to secure my spare in the bed, but it would always vibrate loose after hard driving. I don't want a tire gate, but I also didn't want to take up a ton of bed space.
So I decided to make something to mount to the bed rails.
I used 2x 0.5in threaded rod, welded a nut to the end of each rod, ground down the back side of the nuts so they were slim enough to fit in the bed rail system, then spaced the wheel from the rail with nuts, and secured it on the other side with large washers, lock washers, and nuts.

So far it is holding strong and cost me all of $15 bucks. I have seen similar set ups out of metal tubing, but they definitely cost more, and the functionality is identical.

I might trim the threaded rod down, but I wanted enough incase I decided to flip the tire the other way.
