Regarding the A/C and those of you with a second gen:

Is that thing noisy as hell? Even when I have the fan on to keep the windows from fogging up, there is a lot of clatter coming from the engine bay. When driving, I can feel the engine drain a little on deliverable power when I flip the fan on.

Turn off the fan and my idle noise goes down to an expected level.

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
I also had the inserts added in for mud/rock protection and added surface area for the wife to use as a step.

I'm picking them up Friday :D

    Dude!

That's true. It was like an hour and half, and I was there right as they were opening their doors.

When they stop doing mine for free I'll stop coming in for them.

I suspect that like most new cars if the defrost/windshield is on, the A/C is running in order to dry the air.

Yup, without the AC out wouldn't be a very effective de-fogger.

My compressor is running almost constantly. I keep the defroster on constantly during the winter, then there's a few weeks when I'll have the windows open, then summer and the A/C is on. When I was diagnosing which pulley was making noise, i cycled all the accessories and did notice the engine bog a bit when the compressor was turned on, nothing huge though.

What? They make nice steps :anonymous:

That's why I do my own, even when I'm short on time. By the time I drive to a dealership and wait for those clowns to do it (and hope they don't screw anything up), it's actually quicker for me to do it myself.

That is the point I am at now. Just had the last free one done. I will pick up some filters and synthetic oil and do my own work

Do second Gens use synthetic from the factory? 1St Gens have a 5k mile oil change interval with regular Dino oil according to the manual.

no they come with Dino oil........I switched mine over at 30k to synthetic though. Walmart is dirt cheap on the stuff.......so for like 40 bux and 20min(so easy to do oil on the 2nd gen I love it)its worth it to me.

I rarely ever use the AC, rather feel the breeze from the windows.

With 2 people, a couple floor jacks, jack stands and basic tools (air tools make the job easier), my dad and I swapped out my springs in a few hours including setup time. 1 person could do it but it's a lot easier to lay under the truck and have a second person help position the leaf springs and make sure they don't flop over on you.

I did the AAL mostly myself. Had another person help to apply leverage to get it in the rest of the pack.
