Actually... no. I'm an old fucker and I've never seen Anyone disconnect a battery to replace the spark plugs.

If there isn't any power going to the component you are working on it doesn't matter.

Spark plugs have no power when the ignition is off.

Stereos, ECU's and other components have power all the time.

I know, better safe than sorry... It just struck me as an odd thing to do for spark plugs.

Well, I changed the battery today and all is back to normal!

I DID have to disconnect terminals to do that, what this OK?

I also change out the headlights and decided to leave the battery hooked up and really lived life on the edge :)

I agree no need to disconnect the battery just to replace spark plugs. Been doing plugs for over 25 years and never disconnected battery. fyi most car batteries only last 4-5 years and then it's best to replace them cause they'll short out and burn your alternator's inside regulator, seen it first hand experience., just an fyi and hope it helps ya young folks out there..LOL :p

been a while..but dont we disconnect an electrical connection to get to a plug on the driver's side?

i think i changed my plugs twice. the second time, i left the battery alone.

either way..awesome the OP sorted it out.

my friend rebuilds alts..everytime he hands me a rebuild he says, " and alternator is the worst battery recharger". he means the alt is only really good for keep your battery topped off. i burned out my 911SC battery by jumping it and letting the car run around to charge the battery. granted i do have more faith in my modern tacoma alt..

Buy a new battery slap it hard, put it on the truck, and tell it to do work. That will fix your problem.
