    Go through Crutchfield.

You'll pay a little more but their customer service, wiring harnesses and warranty/return policy can't be beat.

No haha. I like it. the stock radio is fine for me.[/QUOTE]

I forgot there was even a cassette player there. He'll I don't even own a cassette.. Maybe I'll go and find an old Eazy E tape somewhere just so I can see what it feels like to press the rewind button.

I'll give you my stock radio if you want to pay for shipping. The original owner swapped it out before I bought the truck but gave it to me in case I wanted to swap it back in (which I dont).

I had the same problem! It was the fact that my phone stops playing music when it senses the headphone jack is disconnected. Somehow, it would disconnect and reconnect randomly causing it to stop playing.

My mother gave me her old classic tapes, and only I took them because I remembered that my 2003 Old Lady has a tape player, but come to find out it doesn't work!

Anyone know how to fix this?

PS: I don't want to buy a new one, I like the truck OG.

You can always just buy another stock radio. I have a stock double DIN radio out of an ‘04 for sale if you’re interested.

These are nearing 20+ year old radios, they’re going to break eventually. The tape deck in my 2000 Mercedes E320 hasn’t worked in years either.

Also, this is a bajillion year old thread.

I always prefer factory look too - the previous owner had a junky early-2000s sony head unit in my truck that was installed half-assed with big gaps; first thing when I got the truck I found the factory AM/FM/tape/cd deck on ebay and popped it in. However, when my tape deck started crapping out on me, I said screw it and bought a decent Kenwood stereo. The color is infinitely adjustable so you can match the OEM red-orange perfectly, and as an added bonus it's mostly black and doesn't scream "steal me!" from outside the truck, but I was also pleasantly surprised with how much better it sounded using a usb chord from my phone and letting the stereo handle the digital-analog conversion rather than the phone. Even in my drafty old Tacoma, everything sounds more dimensional with less distortion; it's much less straining on the ears. I liked the simple button layout of the stock radio, but I'm over it - the upgrade was worth it considering how many miles I spend in my truck every year.

Time to move into the 20th century and get a CD player. They make those for cars now, lol

$85 from Crutchfield.com will get you a kenwood, which I'm sure is nicer than the $400 kenwood I have now (that I got in ~2005).

Get fancy and spend $110 and get one with hands free bluetooth calling and audio streaming.

Also, Crutchfield makes it super easy to replace your stereo yourself, they have adapter plugs and it's just a few screws. I haven't worked with them in a while, but I used to buy all my car audio from them and it was always super easy.

My suggestion is to update your head unit. Prolly a few hundred bucks and will get you in the 2018.

Plus you can get blutooth and aux options AND improve the quality of your stock speakers (the head unit change alone improves sound quality).
