Damnit! haha. I thought of boar as I clicked on this thread to see the new post, but even then I wasn't 100% that was right. I don't hunt bear (there aren't any around here) so I don't know much about them.

Well I do know the difference between a grizzly and a black bear. Although if you throw me a curve ball like a young darker colored grizzly or one of those browner colored black bears I may slip up. haha

I've always gone by the hump between the shoulders. Is that wrong?

Also, funny thing. Just had a cop stop by our shop and offer me a 50lb C02 tank for free. Turns out is was seized

 

Well no.. We are a welding gas depot and supply all kinds of tanks for customers. I dont really know the whole story but he said it was taken from a local fire department and they had no use for it. The c02 tank is from our supplier so it was up for grabs

Hmm. Not a very nice noise then.. So in theory, it must be worse in the winter since the octane/air ratio is even less?

 

You should not have to run any higher octane than 87. And this spec is exactly what Toyota recommends for our v6s.

For the record. I filled up with the same gas at the same gas station you did. No ping or knock. In fact, I have always run 87 except when I was in Moab last year when I ran 85.

I have never had a ping or a knock.

Not saying you aren't on to something but using higher octane is not the answer. You do know that pre-detonation (which is what a ping or a knock is) is all computer controlled in our trucks. The computer senses (before you hear it) the pre-detonation and adjusts the timing automatically.

If anything, I would suspect you have a vacuum leak. A cracked or improperly placed vacuum hose can cause the symptoms you have described.

 

Taco and I may be outta hear soon. Ha can hope dad wouldn't ever kick me out but who knows. Anyone have/had to deal with younger siblings? Love em to death but a pain sometimes. Positive thought though he has no idea so we are spendin the day under the hood of the taco given it a nice clean.

Mike I dont know how you do it... i just got off the freeway on the south side of salt lake city and it sucked to drive even in my little car!... I couldn't imagine living somewhere worse and driving in that everyday...
