This may have been answered already; If so, sorry

What do you ultimately want out of the set up? How often are you offroading? Are you good with maintenance?

I like to go trailing. Not dirt roads, or some fire road...but nice, rugged, difficult OHV trails that's actually require 4wd and skill. With this being said, i want resis on all four corners because i would like to do some mild prerunning and not be afraid to take a small jump or two if they get in my way.
I was offroading at least twice a month before I flooded my truck and decided I wasn't gna go anymore until it was ready. Havnt gone since. I'm fairly decent with maintenance and am learning more and more. I am not a mechanic or experienced in any way (I use instructions and tutorials)

That's news to me . I tried to get a price from SDHQ on some Kings less than a month ago and the response I got was that they will no longer be carrying King. I wish I had the persons name who told me that so you could square them away.

OP: sorry for the inaccurate post but that was my info from SDHQ when I was shopping for my Kings. I ended up going thru DSMS since I couldn't get a quote from SDHQ.

Are the icon rear resi 2.0 good enoug for what I'm asking it to do. Or would I say it's necessary to save another 300 for the 2.5

Just because you have reservoirs on all 4 corners does not mean you can jump your truck safely. With what you said you like to do, save some money and get non reservoirs. Personally it doesn't sound like you will need them. How often do you really plan to run hundreds of miles at high speed over rough terrain? If not that often then the reservoirs are not going to help. Therefore, if you have decided that reservoirs are not needed for your application your decision is now down to Icon, Fox, SAW and Radflo's. A lot of people including SDHQ have recommended Icons. For a reason.

Now if you don't have a spending limit and want to "pull bitches" get the Kings all around

They are the same price with C/O RR, but King only does a 2.5" RR rear. Icon makes a 2.0 RR and non resi rear as well as non resi front's and that's where Icon comes in more budget minded.

Budget 2500. Still saving to get that.
I would like to go fast through deserts without having to worry. I dnt mind spending more for the resi, they seem necessary in my head

If your daily driving and rarely go at full speed for extended periods of time the icon stage 2 kit is the better choice. Most likely these will perform well enough for trails and a little prerunning. You get a new rear leaf set which we know needs to be replaced on the truck anyway. You will be able to go as fast with the icons as the kings but after a while you will notice decreased performance from the icons as the oil heats up. I bet your nervous system will be fried before the shocks will be damaged from fast offroading. Also both of these systems will allow you to go fast enough to destroy your truck or yourself if you crash. I doubt you will push either of these parts past the limits without breaking a different part of the truck first. The only thing i do not know is how progressive and digressive valving feels when compared. The diggressive icons should be firm on the road but soak up bumps when prerunning. Icons may not handle well or get damaged when the valving will be softest at higher speeds and/or more uneven terrain . The kings will be soft on the road maybe even allowing the body to roll a bit but when running for extended periods of time there performance will feel more consistent. Also the progressive design allows for bigger impact without damage the downside is they will become very stiff when they are nearing full compression which can cause a rough feeling ride.

In short kings for racing, extreme durability, or if you drive too fast...
Icon for on road handling, leaf pack included, and bc most people wont be able to out drive these anyway

Almost 100% spot on. The Digressive valving does handle the high speed though. It's stiffer at first, lighter, then stiffer again. Where as the Kings get progressively stiffer through the travel. But he pretty much nailed it. Icon w/ RR will be right there with the Kings.

If it was a full kill race vehicle, Kings/Fox hands down for their upgraded race internals (that do not come in OE applications)

You are saying that your Kings with remote reservoirs were the same price as the 2.5 Icons without remote reservoir (as I was pointing out for the OP as a way to save some cash)

x2. You beat me to it

Honestly, Do the stage 2 kit from Icon. Non remote reservoir's front, remote reservoir 2.0's rear with their AAL and take the extra cash out of your budget and get UCAs to make sure you have proper alignment. But it is your cash and I am just some random guy on a keyboard. I believe that your options have been layed out very clearly in this thread.

This is exactly what I have. I have 2.5's Icon rears (long story) and the front non-remote reservoirs are paired with LR UCAs for a perfectly alignment

Not a problem. Between you (SDHQ), DSM, and YotaDan (WheelersOffroad) I've never seen so much activity from vendors before. This is what makes this places so good for us the consumer
