Sure, will do. What I can tell you now: the new CS camera does not connect to the factory camera harness. It's got it's own wiring that you route through the existing hole in the tailgate, then you connect the 25ft harness (that I just received) and route the other end of that to the dash.

Sweet! Thanks for the update. I had a feeling it wasnt going to be plug and play. I am just hoping I don't have to rewire it.

I think you will need to rewire it, man. Here's a photo of the chassis harness that goes to the dash that came with my kit:

    IMG_20130531_173526_5dba812d4ffee8045ab2e4d223d031d0a86aa05f.jpg

The wiring harness that comes from the CS camera is also cylindrical and fits into the above. It's essentially a 4-wire connection -- two power & +/- RCA video.

Another road-block. The reverse jumper pin that came w/the kit did not fit my harness. They were able to verify it was not the correct pin for my harness after sending them photos of what mine looks like. Judging by my first dealing with Chris @ CS, I'm sure they will take care of this for me.

I was still able to test things, though, and got the camera to turn on on reverse, however this is what I see:

    IMG_20130531_185718_bf2c22c3b07455b4931eeca917720934e2c4eb4b.jpg

The camera has power at the connection. I sent another email, I'm sure they'll get back to me quick. Stay tuned.

Another quick update: Scott @ CS called me early this morning, they're taking care of the pin, should get that late next week hopefully. After that's installed, they're going to work with me to narrow down the problem and get it fixed. Great customer support so far!

Update 3: I fiddled around some more just now, did some double-checking and noticed that the blank screen is not totally blank. There is a very faint picture, I think I was able to notice now that the sun is going down. Talked to Scott again and they are replacing the camera, too.

Final update: after a lot of thinking, I've decided to return this kit and go the OEM route for simplicity's sake since I'm already pre-wired for it & had already bought the OEM camera. Chris & Scott @ CS were awesome, they were all about getting me fixed up.

Please do not hesitate to give these guys a call. They've had loads of successful installs and if something is not right, they will make it so.

That's exactly what I'm doing. I already have the OEM camera & my truck is pre-wired, I just bought that harness off ebay.

Still, CS's kit is a great deal if you don't already have the camera. It seems to be a bit better than the OEM one, and you also get the locking tail gate handle.

I just bought this off ebay as well. The seller says that it can be viewed in both mirror and head unit simultaneously, or you can decide where the feed goes via switch. I'll see if this works. From the picture, I see that the video is only going to the head unit. Did you end up getting the video switch?

No, I didn't like losing the rear view with the video image in the mirror. But having in the large screen below helps in any backing situation. And to me it's more intuitive to be looking down at a downward viewing image.

So I received the eBay harness & followed the instructions, worked like a charm. For those pre-wired 2013's w/the non-JBL radio looking to add a backup camera, this is probably the cheapest/easiest thing to do. $70 for the harness and $55 for the camera courtesy of a forum member, I'm very happy.

Pop the A/C controls off, then there are four bolts under the radio (2 are pretty deep in), then the radio pops out.

Here is a somewhat related question. I have the backup camera with mirror display and I am happy with it but here is what I want to do. I will be putting a camper in the back of my truck and when I do so i will be taking the tailgate off when the camper is on. I want to be able to buy a second OEM camera and harness and just plug it into the connector and attach the camera to the back of the camper while the camper is on. When I take it off just unhook the camera and put the tailgate back on and reconnect the tailgate camera. So with a second OEM camera and harness is it basically just plug and play swapping between the two?

Turned out great, man! Did he happen to say how he got the backup lines to show up?

How'd you get grid lines? It's been driving me nuts since I got my truck that it doesn't have any grid lines when displayed on the head unit. Been looking, unsuccessfully, since I got the truck how get my camera to show in the mirror instead so I could have the grid lines.

Thanks for the additional info. It's weird that the OEM camera displays lines on the rear view mirror but not the head unit. I never understood that.

BJboucher, that is a great question. Does anyone know WHY the rear view will show lines but will not if you relocate it to the screen with OEM camera?
Would rather not have to deal with another camera.

I just want my factory camera to work on my pioneer in dash. I hate the rearview mirror one

It was a pain for me to finally get it to work with the pioneer but once its done its worth it. I blew 4 fuses before finally getting it, but couldn't ever get to just pop on my dash when in reverse. Oh well I can just click camera on on the head unit and it comes on.
