I've been tossing around the idea of what tires I want to go with (eventually) and I can't get over my want for some mud radials. I was wondering if they (in general) perform poorly in the wet and if so, are there any exceptions to that rule?

What's the best mud tire for mostly street and some trail use?

    TIA

Any mud tire with sipes in it should do ok in the wet.

That part makes me think you should go with a more aggressive AT tire.

I only say that cuz I am in the same boat :)

I'm going to go with either those or the dueller revos. Both perform great on and off road from what I have witnessed

They look skinnier than stock in your pics. I got the 12.50s and they arent bad at all in the rain. Havent gotten them in the snow yet but the ats are awesome in the snow.

    mine are skinnier than stock

i prefer the skinnier tire...theyre typically more likely to cut thru something and hit bottom instead of floating

Yeh id say thats why they perform bad in the rain though you dont have much contacting the pavement

But I also dont use mine for hardcore wheeling. Just hauling firewood and such off the my hill. Use the 4wheeler and rzr for play.

ive had wider tires and they didnt do any better

    again though

a skinnier tire is less likely to float and be on top of the water than a wide tire

well mine perform great in the rain and tire rack gives them good wet traction reviews. Dunno how much cutting through water you would get going 50 in the rain.

I'd got with an AT tire for daily driving.

I used to run 32x11.50's BFG M/T's on my 96 tacoma when I owned it.

I remember traveling on the highway in the rain and the rear-end got a little squirrley on me a few times. Not fun, especially at highway speeds. You gotta really slow down to prevent that.

    New truck....so nothing yet
The BFG Mud Terrain T/A's that I just sold to Danzer are great in the rain, and we have had plenty of it. I have not had a single problem with traction on even newly paved soaking wet roads.

Good input. Sounds like hit or miss when it comes to wet traction. I have been eye balling the KM2's and I love the look. Up until I saw the KM2's, I was planning on Nitto TG's.....Need to learn more about the KM2's. Thanks for all the input so far gang.
