Leaf spring TSB

Before people start freaking out that I created ANOTHER thread asking this, know that I've read several convoluted threads about this topic and they were useless. Sorry in advance for the head ache I know I've given a few of you.

I've got a 2011 tx pro with the v6 and access cab. I asked the dealership about the tsb and I think the guy was bullshitting me, but he said my truck didn't need the tsb. I've got the 3 leaf pack and I can see where the bump stops have been rubbing even though I haven't hauled more than maybe 150 lbs in addition to my ~200 lb camper shell.

1. Is my truck eligible for the tsb?
2. From anyone who has had it done, is it worth it?

I'm willing to bet it'll bug some people that I'm beating a dead horse here, but I'd appreciate some feedback.

fine fine fine.. i'll bite on this thread. we got kinda the same truck and all so here ya go. my leaf springs on my new truck weren't as bad as most people. but, with about 900 lbs of weight my truck would hit the bump stops. i figured it was normal at first because holy cow was truck had a LOT of landscaping stones. then i read threads here in TW and heard there was a TSB for it. Now, mine never sagged with a whopping 150-300lbs like some of the weak ass springs i here about.

i had mine done. the first dealership i went to said they'd never heard of it and the second dealership looked it up and did it no problem.

is it worth it?.. uh.. it was free... soooo yup. but it's really not that much better. after 900lbs of weight it still sags and bottoms out. but it works for me. if you're gonna really haul stuff get Dakar or AAL. if ya want the TSB like everyone else.. call around until ya get it.

 

Just took my '11 in to see if Dealership would do TSB even though I am at 47,000 miles. They said the truck did qualify for TSB but I was out of warranty. They were nice enough to tell me they would pay half if I would pay half. I wasn't really interested cause I knew they would try to rip me a new one, but for the heck of it I asked how much. They said the total would be $1,900 ($950 me/$950 them). I laughed and said they were crazy and left. On my way out she told me the springs alone were $700 and labor was $1,200. I will never go there again unless I have a recall.

I have a 2011 tacoma access cab base model 4x4 and I was reading about the leaf spring tsb and its true. I tried calling on the phone and they denied that it was true so I found the link to the tsb nd brought it to them and they showed me it was true. So they are ordering my parts and will be calling when they are in. The key words for this to happen is my truck is giving me a harsh ride when I have a load in the bed. Why wouldn't you go there again? It seems they were willing to go half and half even though you were out of warranty. Seems more than reasonable to me. I know the dealer is way over priced, but really?

Just call the Toyota dealerships in your region and find one that won't hassle you.
