Drove the JKUR, pictured earlier in this thread, for almost a week. Seriously, no rattles, squeaks or anything; however, with the exception of my driver's side headrest, my Tacoma doesn't have odd noises either. The 4 door Rubicon drove great at highway speeds, though I can say that it did "wander" somewhat on grooved pavement at sub highway speeds. My truck with all terrain tires does the same thing though.

I wonder if the heavier axles and swaybars on the Rubicon makes that much of a difference compared to the JKU Sport? In theory, I guess it should.

Spoonman, just curious, which one did you drive?

Also took a drive in a friend's 2011 4Runner Trail Edition over the weekend. Now that's a different class of vehicle.:)

Does this mean you read back through the thread and answered your own questions? :D

I hate when people get all bitchy too. :p

I did an alignment too, the suspension was fine. alignment numbers including caster were fine. It felt like the 1994 wrangler I drove recently. They all feel the same to me.

My '12 JKUR just tripped #6 cylinder fail at 11,900 miles. Going in for a head replacement. Chrysler says 1% of pentastars affected, but my dad's '13 adn my buddy's 13 both already have a bad head tick. So in my small peer group we are 3/3.

Seems a lot of the early build '13's have the bad head. Chrysler is giving a loaner vehicle, and replacing the head. You should notice more performance when you get it replaced.

My service advisor told me no rental, but we have the ext warranty and they will cover a rental. We just took it camping over memorial day weekend since my Tacoma was down waiting on shocks. Both the wife and I still love it. My Tacoma is great, but after a year we both love the JKUR more than ever. Even if it has a shitty head design.

Yeah. The head is the only big issue Im hearing. Some folks have had clock spring issues, but no more than the Tacomas. Im suprised how much I like my JKUR

You really want to say that the Tacoma's suspension is anything to brag about in stock form?!?! Even on a Tacoma website there aren't a lot of people who actually use their trucks that would agree with that.

Might be there with you shortly. I've been eyeing the Unlimiteds and seriously considering one for my next vehicle. The FJ hasn't grown on me all that much and I don't want a 4Runner. It'll be a while before I finally trade my Tacoma but the Unlimited will be given a hard look.

I really considered the fj, but couldn't get past the lack of visibility and rear doors. Rumor has it that the 2014 wranglers are getting a diesel.

I'd heard that also. I would consider that but I'll wait and see how that engine does for the first couple years in the Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500. First production run engines always make me nervous. Realistically, I'll probably be 2 years out before I trade in my Tacoma. I'll slowly strip it down, back to stockish and see what's available at that time unless a smoking deal presents itself in the meantime.

That's pretty much what I thought. After receiving an award from popular mechanics, and in the top 10 best engines from Wards, I figured I'll give it a shot.

To address spoon Mans comment, being only 22 years old, I can't see you having many miles on different vehicles under your belt to make an accurate comparison. Big difference in driving a vehicle off road and on, rather than a spin around the block a few times.

I gotta disagree with you on this one.

My wife and I have been driving our 13 Rubi alot...and I still own my tacoma.

I wouldnt say anything in it feels cheap. No more cheap than the interior in the tacoma honestly.

The only thing I do feel could be improved is how easily the hard tops scratch if you have a black one.

Jeep parked behind me at the store. I said nice jeep but I tend to like my truck better.

I just don't understand how you can say you don't want all the extra stuff that Toyota gives you and then turn around and complain about a lack of features.

I don't really want/need warmers in everything in my truck but if thats what makes or breaks a vehicle for you you should have gotten the jeep in the first place.

The only major thing (beside the head issue) I didn't like about the Jeep Unlimited was the high-speed handling.

I can yank the Taco back and forth 3-4 times at 80 mph and it recovers well, feels solid, precise and predictable. The 2012 Jeep Unlimited I yanked it back and forth 3-4 times at only 60 mph, and it was jumping way too much, it didn't feel solid, precise nor predictable. Made me sweat. That was the end of the Jeep experiment for me . . .

Well actually I have...I drove one 2 weeks ago. And many before that. We had this conversation last week. They're sloppy. Loose. Unpredictable. And have awesome bump steer. This is a 2013 jeep wrangler with 1500 miles on it. Completely stock. Nothing wrong with it.
