looking to replace shocks and add spacer lift...I do not off road at all just like the height of a lift
With that ICON leaf what does leaving the overload leaf in place do to the ride...what I noticed when I ordered mine from DSM is the little tag line of removing that overload and saying goodbye to the rough factory ride...

Mine have been silent since installed. I didn't do anything special except clean them up well before install.

When you're unloaded, leaving the overload in place makes no difference. When you're loaded heavily, everything will set down on the overload leaf instead of going to a negative arch. I tow and haul fairly frequently and found that the Icon AAL with the TSB leaf pack actually support weight very well but there have been times where they've hit the overload leaf with a heavy load. For day to day use, leaving the overload in place only gives you an extra 1/2" of lift. For hardcore off roading, leaving the overload can somewhat hinder flex as you'll hit the overload leaf before you hit the bump stops. That's why DSM says to remove the overload, it maximizes flex.

I've got the Icon 3-leaf AAL (pretty much the same thing) but I'm running the standard length 5100's. Most of my driving is on the road and I do have a shell so I'm squatted a little bit. Running the standard 5100's still lets the rear flex quite a bit but did not require any modification to the bump stops or extended brake lines.

If you want the best performance possible, get the AAL then get compressed and extended lengths to determine which shock will best suit your truck. That would mean you would likely need longer brake lines and could possibly need to extend your bump stops or replace them.

I just ordered the Wheelers 3-leaf HD pack, and I cant decide on which shocks to get lol. Do you know if the Icon VS 2.0 would give a little more travel than the stock length 5100s?

I dont have the TSB pack, but I plan on leaving the overload spring in to try to get the 2" of lift

I'm not overly familiar with the specifics of Icon stuff (it was out of my price range so I didn't look into it a whole lot). There's a member on this forum named ICONRep who would be able to help you out, or give one of the vendors a call.

Shame on you for using grease, the great dirt attractor.....:p

As far as which brand AAL to use which ever way you go, try to get an assurance that it is MADE with american steel, not just sold or made in America, & not to ruffle feathers but its the soft asian steel that is the problem
