I have 32,000 miles on my 2011 Taco. My brakes squeak bad right at the point of stopping. Last oil change I did, I told the dealership to check them out. They said my brake pads are at 90% and great, they are just aftermarket pads?! They went on to say that aftermarket pads will squeak and if I want some FACTORY brand pads they would put them on for a fee?! :mad:Huh?! Anyone else have this issue

happened to my 2012 with 3,000 miles, have them scuff up the drums/rotors/pads. they did mine for free. i can put up a copy of the service ticket so you can show them it was warranty work for free. i have over 12k now, still silent :)

Did you put in after market pads? sounds like you didnt know that they were there. If you didn't, the stealership is trying to jack you.

Its the pads that came with the truck when I bought it last year. I'm getting screwed right?

:) There may be some extra information needed from you to help with making some helpful advice. Did you buy your truck new or used ? Why does it have aftermarket pads with only 32 K on the truck ? Most aftermarket pads that are not the top of the models, may require some form of assistance in sound control. That is a fancy way to say you may need some modifcation to your brake pads to keep them from squeeking. Appling anti-squeal paste to the backs of your pads usually stops most pad squeeks.

Do you drive hard and brake hard every time you go out with your Taco ? Where have you been with your Truck, hauling a heavy load or driving down a mountain and riding your brakes ? These are a lot of questions that will help provide a correct answer to your complaint. Good Luck.

All that needs done is pull the pads and use some brake grease. The dealer should be more than willing to this. If they dont, dont worry should only take you 20 mins.

I'm in the same boat. I have just under 40k miles on my taco and just put new fronts on today....turns out it wasn't the issue, it was the rears. Just got new rear shoes and intend on ripping it apart tomorrow. Very aggriavating. Never had rear brake shoes squeal at just 40k miles.

Curious to know if your brakes are worn out at 40k since my 2010 DCLB 2wd just started whining also at 32k miles.

If I wore out a set of drum brakes on the back in that short of distance, I have set a new personal best by a large margin.
