Get to the Point...

Ok, before people say Search.. I did, and I got MANY different opinions on wheel and tire sizes. So after that, I figure I will just post my exact question to get the exact answer.

I have a 05 DBL cab TRD with a Revtek 3" lift kit. I am installing Wheelers AAL and 5100's in the rear this weekend. I plan on getting some wheels and tires. Here is what I planned.

17x8 Helo HE835 (0 offset - 4.5 BS)

As for tires.. this is the hard decision. I know I will have some minimal rubbing, but I was thinking of 285/70/17 but I can't make up my mind.

Now I rarely offroad, I am just looking for something more aggressive looking. I drive a lot, so nothing crazy. Here are some tires I was thinking about.
Hankook DynaPro Rt03 M/T
Nitto Terra Grapplers

I want to buy super soon!! So any input would help... as for wheels and tires!

If you drive a lot with not much off-roading, I would think you'd want an A/T wheel instead of a M/T. The M/Ts will wear out much faster. What about BFG All Terrains?

 

I have been looking at them. I agree with the tread wear, I just want something that looks a little meaner. I guess I will search and see some trucks with these tires on it.

I noticed you're from Ohio.

M/T's aren't your best tire for highway/rainy conditions or snow/ice conditions.

check out the Good Year Wrangler Duratracs. They're a new all-terrain tire with some decent reviews so far that look a lot meaner than the BFGs . . . i'm about to buy a set for my 05 prerunner . . . fingers crossed . ..

go with the nittos, just bought my second set last night after months of thinking it over. They are great on the highway and superb off-road for an AT tire

 

I have your exact size in a BFG AT. I have no complaints. However when these do wear out I'll be trying the Nitto's because they get such good reviews here.

 

Wow, I really like the Dura Tracs.. those look good, and have pretty decent reviews. I would say it's between Dura Tracs and Nitto's... who has the best prices?

 

nittos will be cheaper about $189 for 285 70 17
I couldnt find the Dura-trac's for cheaper then around $220

 

Nitto's for $189.. that sounds pretty nice. I found Duratracs for $201. Where did you find Nitto's for $189?

Speaking of that... Will the Nitto's be sufficient with the large amount of lake effect snow that we get here? Going to a couple tire shops today... Hopefully I will have something ordered soon.

 

the TG's do great in the snow, did for me atleast, due to all the siping in the tread

 

id like to see a picture of your truck with the lift and those wheels
