I just want the car that they are attached too...

I would imagine the driver of the car in front is saying "wtf is going on behind me"????

That's a sweet idea. Hopefully the camera lens is self-cleaning and well protected.

Heavy traffic they're just going to shut down to low beam.

It wouldn't be any different than how you (should) operate the high beams now, except it'll still hold the shoulder lights for spotting animals and cars jumping out of side roads.

    Yay! more stuff to service/maintain/break.
    :D

Actually, my commander limited had something similar with the high beams. I forget exactly how it worked, but It didn't open up a tunnel. I think it would slowly turn off the highs when it detected the headlights of an oncoming vehicle, and it would either dim them or point them down when it detected tail lights of a vehicle in front. It changed slowly, so it wasn't noticeable at all.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!
I like it! Would take some getting used to on the road like any other new "invention". I can't tell you how long it took me before I realized Dodge cuts out the drl on the side the turn signal is activated. Smart but it had a learning curve.

The future. Good to see some RnD is in the works trying to improve safety with lighting. The old halogen bulb will be a thing of the past soon.

x2. I couldn't even keep a simple solenoid working in my projectors, you can keep all those motors and the camera system it takes to make that system work. My hand controlled dimmer switch just fine thanks.

Because rich old geezers are too lazy to flick a hand switch....this country is populated with NDF's and this encourages lack of attention to what's going on in the driver's seat.

I heard the same negative comments when intermittent wipers first came out. :)

This should be a mandated standard on all cars for 2015 and on. Nice work BMW.

x2, people already don't pay attention when they drive so lets take away one other thing that they'd normally actually have to watch...

I like this idea. Worrying about my high beams is way too distracting. I have phone calls to make and emails to send.

I think that computers should do everything for us. Life is too hard as it is.

Wonder if people complained as much when computers or tvs were refined and improved ;)
