    at the same time, it makes no sense for people to stop on the opposite side of the road when no children will be crossing it.

    same law in SC as NC regarding this.

    This does say when in doubt, stop. So if you don't know, I guess kinda better safe than sorry.

    a kid could do that at anytime, since they dont need a bus for that. doesnt mean you drop your guard when you pass the bus on the completely opposite side of the road. same could happen if one ran across the median or hopped a guard rail...or jumped off an overpass.
