5100s @ .85 with stock TRD off road coils

Hey guys. I have read a lot of threads on this. But I am looking for some presonal experience . Like the title says I wont to do the 5100s set to .85
with the stock trd off road coils. My question is with the preload on the springs just how stiff will it ride? Also my truck is a 2011 with 15000 miles
just how much lift will I get at that setting? Thanks guys I appreciate you letting me starte a new thread on this subject and thanks in advance for your help.

 

I have mine set at 1.75" and the ride is 100x better than stock shocks. I also still have the stock springs, so with it set at .85 I imagine it will be that much better. You will get .85" of lift which should be close to leveling your truck out. Just measure from center of the hubs to the top of your fender and add .85" and that's where it will sit. Then measure your rear the same way and see how close you are to being level if the billies were installed.

In comparison. Would the 5100s set at .85 with the stock TRD off road coils which are progressive ride as stiff as the 2.0 sway away or icon coil overs? Trying to compare to get an idea .

 

you cant compare 5100's with any spring to icon and your ride will improve 100% have no worries about being "stiff"

 

FWIW i tried billies at 2.5 on stock SR5 springs and it rode a little rough. check that - very rough. it was great off road but on pavement even seams in the concrete were annoying.

 

Oh ok. I like the ride quality I have and I don't wont to stiffen it up too much by preloading the springs to .85 being they are progressive TRD off road springs. Thank you for your reply's.

 

i have a TRD Offroad double cab with 5100's at .85.
the truck rides very well and is far from being too stiff.

 

You have a Sport, the OP has an Off Road. Your coils are not progressive, his coils are progressive.

Read the same as above.

Whoops didn't notice the OP had progressive but IMO bilsteins will ride much better w/ his stock springs period as I think anyone would agree as long as you don't preload the factory springs at the 2.5 level on the billies. Icons are superior to stock and most other options if you can afford those do it!!

 

Your ride should be fine. I had a my TRD sport coils set at 1.75" and it was still a fine ride. .85" is going to ride just fine.

 

Again... your sport coils are not the same as his Off Road coils. Not apples to apples.

 

I know, I figured the TRD off road coils would be a little bit better ride than the sports. Since they are both different coils.

 

Again OP The billies will ride better than stock at .85 or 1.75 period whether you have Offroad or Sport

I have seen the way it looks with 5100s @ 1.75. I just wont to see how much rake I would have @ .85. Thanks again guys!

 

With the coils being progressive, they will definitely be stiffer. The Bilstein's will preload his coils, which means the plush portion of the initial dampening will be all but gone.

That's personal preference. If you like a stiffer ride, definitely. If you like the smooth, plush ride that the stock O/R has, it's not going to be better. Have you ridden in a TRD Off Road that had Billies set to 1.75? I'm not trying to devalue your input, and apologize if it comes across that way. I just want the OP to get the most accurate answer.

 

You have a beautiful truck, by the way. A look that I'm really going for. Again, I don't mean to devalue your input, but the reason that I chose to go the OME route as opposed to the 5100's is because I LOVED the way that my truck rode, and I didn't want to get the harshness that would be associated with preloading the progressive O/R coils.
