That is simply because the X-1's programming doesn't seem to like the rising fuel pressure.

Trust in the fact that many higher end ecu's and tuning shops use 1:1 rising fuel pressure regulator with the tuning. It is normal outside of the X-1. The X-1 can handle it though. It will adjust its fueling to maintain the proper AFR under acceleration.

As well, the "FPR Mod" originated here:

    http://www.xr-underground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50532

    Write up as well.

All I can say, is that it has been proven and used prior to the X-1's arrival, and will continue. However, it is your truck, and always do what you feel best. :)

I didn't think going from the supercharger boost port to the OEM regulator would do much? Mine was always left on the intake before I put an adjustable fuel regulator.

It does, but it cannot keep the increase in pressure nice and smooth, like an aftermarket one with a large diaphragh will. It will cause fluctuations in the fuel pressure at it rises, but no one has datalogged the fuel pressure to determine how much it is affected

i didn't notice any difference driving my truck. From what APR said, the higher pressure will affect the toyota ECU.

No it doesn't. On the factory ECU, it will be in Open Loop when you go into boost. So it is giving fuel at a pre-determined amount, based off of the reflash. No feed back, no adjustment, doesn't know.

This just mechanically gives you additional fuel.

But if you don't believe me, just ask all of the people who are running the reflash and FPR mod, or and upgraded aftermaket rising FPR. On the TRD reflash. Even works well with a TRD reflash running a turbo setup. That is how I did Toon's until he could get a ProEFI Pro48.

Sdxrunner619's XR on reflash with 9 psi and FPR mod. Ran beautifully as such for over two seasons of drift racing.

    Mine.

The list of other cars that aren't Tacomas would be to extensive to type. It works. He and I have butted heads a few times, on differing subjects. In the end, with respect to his knowledge, all the things he said wouldn't work for me, or I was doing wrong, has been done right. Offensive perhaps, but true.

By the way, the only safety feature on the X-1 that actually works, is the fuel cut-off.

Im just subbed to see the outcome dude..............I don't know wtf is right or wrong, and I wont stick my foot in my mouth.

I don't need to say anything constructive to be here, I've done my share......im just watching this to learn a thing or two.

If I must say something constructive to appease you.................

You have to be careful with a rising fpr you can actually lean the volume of fuel up. A walbro 255 @40 psi is 68gph and @60psi is 62gph. That doesn't seem like a lot but if your running near max of the pump (they claim 650hp but I wouldn't go past 600hp with just 1) that little bit of difference could effect a/f. The main reason for rising fpr is for high boost applications.

This is very true. But that is a whole sidequest to this discussion. Pump output always drops off as fuel pressure increases. Just like you said. A Walbro 255 Non HP (high pressure) will have fuel flow drop off much more dramatically than the Walbro 255 HP.

All of the manufacturers have charts to show the fuel flow per psi increase. The Walbro 255lph HP is rated - 602whp capable at 60psi fuel pressure, 11.4 amps, 13.5 VDC. 813whp @ 60 psi fuel pressure, 16.2 amps, 16.5 VDC.

So even still, the 255 is a good choice as long as it is the HP version. Luckily, Dezod and URD only carry the HP version. In years past URD didn't, but made the change. I used to tell people to upgrade to a larger pump that was capable of handling increased pressure back then.

One should always know what the pump they are getting is capable of. Just good to be well informed.

Now when I am telling these things to people, I have already taken into consideration what they have. And since the output of the TRD s/c will never reach that hp limit, the people doing these mods are still plenty safe with their fueling from the pump.

I'm just trying to understand this conflicting info of where I should connect that vacuum line.

Could you elaborate more on your statement?

To maintain static fuel pressure, literally, route the hose from the fuel pressure regulator to the nipple on the intake. Just like it was from the factory. In that route, the FPR will not see boost or vacuum.

I as well as others have tested the safety features, "guardian," of the X-1. Because it is open source, and you yourself can tune it, we modified values for when certain other safety features should kick in. One being water temp. We modified it so that it could kick in much sooner than what it comes programmed to. No change with vehichle operation.

Only the feature for the fuel being over 12% increase to maintain fueling, which is based off of the injectors, and afr, kicked in and limited vehichle operation.

I was just worried he had a stock pump (or similar) with a rising fpr. That is a common mod on the Australian forums that cause a lot of headaches.

Ok guys, I have been reading everything I can about the pump and AFR. I just received my 2013 supercharged TRD OF. I want to install the 2.85 pulley and the URD fuel pump. Which one (Walbro 255 or Deatchswerks 255?). I am also going to install the Volant CAI, later. I am wanting a pump that is going to accomplish the job and be reliable. I have also read that moving the bed is easiest to install the pump. Can you move the bed far enough back to get to the pump with out unplugging the wires?

I bought the Walbro 255. Seems to be MORE than adequate for my needs. I haven't received it yet to read the install so I'm curious if the bed method is easier too.

I gotta say, the guys over at APR are f&*king rad- my truck is shredding now!!! Just dropped in a new map. By far the coolest company I have ever worked with:D

I have a 2013Taco with a TRD SC. Everything is completely stock and my truck has a total of 5,000miles SC has only been on the last 2,000 miles. I was thinking of doing the URD stealth 2.8 pulley. Will my taco need anything else and will the slightly undersize pulley even be worth messing with????

No you can't slide the bed back unless you remove the bumper first. I would tske the bumper and bed off (3 person job) install it then test drive that way if something ain't right its right there.

Having more power under te good is always fun! You'll feel a bit of a difference with the 2.8 pulley.

Just make sure to upgrade the fuel pump to run the 2.8 pulley

Definitely WORTH messing with- cheap power there. I would think you would be ok, especially if you're not at sea level. Always good to check AFR though..
