Just got a black 05 6psd taco. Been in the family for 8 years, still running strong with our '99 tacoma that has 200k on it  (some rough miles in there too)

Anyways, I'm looking into doing a few mods. Just got a Pioneer 2500bt installed to replace the stock headunit so I could have bluetooth, back up camera, etc.

First, I'm looking into doing either a 3 or 4 inch lift (with 33" tires) and was wondering what brands are recommended as well as what they would cost.

Second, I've been doing a lot of research on this one, have been trying to find a muffler to give the taco a little deeper/louder exhaust note. I know this will never be a V8, but I just want it a little louder but most mufflers I've looked at have made it sound like a rice burner.

I appreciate any help! Really trying to get this stuff done to the truck soon. Will also be blacked out :D

Welcome to the forum! Surprised you weren't here sooner, owning a first gen. If you only want 3-4 inches of lift, Revtek, Ready Lift, Toyotec, etc are all good and ring in at $300 or so. I have the TRD exhaust on mine and love the sound because it won't drive you nuts on long trips. The stainless tip on it is super easy to maintain, too. Mod on!:canada:

Do it right the 1st time and go adjustable coilovers, upper control arms, a new leaf pack, and rear shocks to get 3" of useful changes! Plan to spend 2-3k. Then you can fit 33" with some trimming.

Anything over 3" and you've got to install a drop bracket lift. RCD, ProComp, Fabtech,Etc...Assuming you're running a 4x4.

Haha we've kept the '99 stock and have just done a lot of our own maintenance on it except for the ridiculously complicated stuff, it really hasn't had any out of the ordinary problems. I was looking at the TRD exhaust, and maybe the Aero Turbine so far.

Making me cringe at the number...college student here haha. May look into some of it though, thanks. Yes on the 4x4, prolly should've mentioned that.
Yeah I've come to accept the fact that I'm not gonna have great mpg's if I'm gonna lift it haha

Yes I am 4x4, forgot to mention that.

Was hoping no more than around 600-700, if possible.

It will be used for some trails on my farm and other slower things there. Mudding as well every once in a while, a little bit of towing (nothing too ridiculous) and loading up the bed. I have had the truck squatting pretty low from overloading it a little bit....:D

700-800 (without shipping) could net you a nice OME lift. Albeit at that price you'd be stuck with an AAL versus a full leaf pack. If you load the bed you might want to go with a new leaf pack, which OME Dakars are nice, and you could then get more rear lift using the Dakar overload leaf, which also increases the load capacity on the leafs.

Appreciate it guys, I'll throw that in the plan.

Any other suggestions as far as mufflers go?

I looked into Magnaflow...wasnt too crazy about it.

I've been considering the Aero Turbine and Flowmaster 40, but I cant really decide yet.
