If you guys are close to each other you can save a TON on shipping if you have them go together. I ended up paying $25 to have my sliders shipped from OR because I already had a skid of goodies coming.

Checking social media this morning it's pretty sad when more people I know are acknowledging today is doughnut and everyone missed the anniversary of D-Day yesterday

We could be speaking German right now if it weren't for our fighting men/women and supporting country.

Saddens me that my generation doesn't seem to give a shit.

If we asked my generation to work 6/7 days a week to keep the war effort up like our past generations had to they would want more money

Like I said before the only guys to help out the walk for the wounded I did was guys from your generation.

What it comes down to is no one is making money off the remembrance of D Day, and yes it's sad it is all about making a buck anymore.

This is true. Good point. To flip that kinda if you are anti war you are anti defense funding. There is a reason why I didn't see any defense contractors names on the donators lists of the last function I attended.

Talking to Rich (old school member who has since left here and is a member of our armed forces) he was telling me the attendance to vetrans functions keeps going down as time passes. I'm going to assume we are also being desensitized due to being at war for so long (the majority of my lifetime) so Americans seem to care less.

Dad is a Marine and was in Vietnam.

We listened to the first Iraq war on his shortwave and we were glued to the TV during the entire campaign.

Brother is a Marine and got in right after the first campaign and out before the last started.

Many of my friends are military or police.

I actually feel guilty for not joining so I figured the least I could do is help some of our troops out when they come home. By no means have I done anything even close to significant. Up to this point my involvement can be considered nill. I'm just now starting to get involved, but I have always known the history.

I always enjoyed history especially the history of conflict and battle. Risk is my favorite game - go figure with as much trouble as I get on in here :D

That was more geared towards the Doughnuts. It just seems more people recognize the commercialize holidays instead of the important ones. I am with Boyd, I should have done something when I was younger but never did.
