I have a 09 Taco, and I was wondering if it is possible for the dealer (or myself) to program my truck to automatically lock the doors when I put it in gear, or go a certain speed, or anything like that. I have young kids and they like to mess with door handle and power windows etc, and I don't always remember to lock the door after we get going. I would hate to have one of them open the door going down the road. I have had other cars that do this, just wondering if it is possible.

Theres a couple of aftermarket keyless entry systems that have the option to automatically lock the doors when the truck is in drive. . .not sure how the mechanism works, but you can check with your local car security/audio shop.

it is definitely possible....i had a alarm installed on my '09 and asked if they could program the auto lock/unlock when i turn on the engine and off the engine and they did it for me no additional charge.....must be easy since they did not charge me......unfortunately i don't know how, but it can be done.

    I'm Thinking...Oh Yeah...An FJ
It's all in my head at the moment...

I see you have a double cab, The rear doors have a child latch on the door edge that you flip that will keep the doors from opening from the inside. I knew it was there but never paid attention to it. I finally had some rear passengers after 9 months of owning the truck and it was interesting seeing them trying to get out.

Also you can lock out the power windows with the lock button on the driver's door panel. It's in the same cluster as the power window/lock switches. Lower the windows to a set height and push the button, no one is going anywhere.

I'm thinking you already know this but there could be others that don't.

and i'll say no as well. There is no way to program the stock tacoma to do this without editing the truck in some fashion. I've thought about figuring how to get the system out of the corola's or something (cause they do it and have the same locking mechanisms..) BUT i think its more trouble than its worth

    ...so, no.
