Truck stays hot for hours in garage

So I live in an apartment complex in Arizona. I got a garage so I could keep my truck in it for a little piece of mind. However, now that it's getting very warm (110ish in the afternoon), my truck stays very warm in the garage. It's a very tight fit and the hot engine doesn't help.

What I'm wondering is if it's bad for the paint or the truck for it to stay in the garage hot all night (it literally is still warm in the morning). Anyone have any ideas? It doesn't bother me heat-wise since I just crank the A/C and it's cool within a minute. I'm just worried if it's bad for the truck. Thanks!!

Do you have any ventilation into the garage? Could you keep the garage door cracked open a bit on the bottom to let air circulate? I do that with my garage and it helps a lot. The cool air comes in through the bottom and the warmer air goes up through a couple vents and into the attic and out the roof vents.

It can't be any worse than allowing it to sit outside exposed to the weather ....and bird droppings... and tree sap falling... and kids throwing eggs.... and vandalism... and criminals... and mice & squirrels crawling inside your airbox....

Should be fine..............imagine the underhood temps in stop and go traffic. I have yet to see a hood (so far) with paint or clear coat fading/flaking.

Of course as posted above u can possibly vent the garage.....I do that for our a/c pump in the garage on hot days since the 2 vehicles in there can add to the air temps in the garage

    You're fine.

Believe me, sun damage (along with all the other things mentioned) are much worse. But like joneill03 said... Maybe you could keep it cracked or even open in the daytime to let some of the heat out. I usually leave my garage open when I'm home but vandalism isn't usually a problem in my neighborhood.

Oh... one more thing, maybe back it in so the engine will get most of the cooler (not really cool if it is 110*) air / ventilation.

Good idea. I'll crack the bottom a little bit. There isn't any ventilation on the top (no attic or vent), it's just a small 1-car garage in a row of garages at the apartment complex. The only thing about leaving it completely open that would bother me is some of the kids that live in the apartment complex might mess around in there or something. Hooligans. Hahaha

The sun beating down on the car is far worse than just the heat in the garage.

The joy of living in AZ. If your garage is any thing like mine it has terrible insulation and since it is summer I would imagine that part of your garage at some point in the day has one wall in the sun. The garage heats up and then you move a hot car into it. The concrete floor then absorbs all the heat and in the morning your car is prewarmed.

Vent your garage the best you can in the evening just to keep some air moving through and it will be better in the morning.

Your truck runs on a series of controlled explosions. It'll be fine. ;)

I dunno if I'd keep the garage cracked. That's just an invitation for rodents to make a nest out of your wiring.

The garage is way better. The heat alone is nothing compared to what the sun and vandals will do. Instead of rust we have the desert problems like dry rot on rubber and plastic. I have not had any issues with motorcycles or cars in decades. My garage is not vented (too many scorpions if I leave it cracked overnight) and gets hit with the sun in the afternoon matter of fact I bought a thermometer to hang in there just to lmao when I get home from work. I may have to get a sharpie and and draw a line and write in 130.

Thanks for the input! I was just worried about whether the heat would have an effect on the paint and rubber/plastic parts. I want to keep this baby looking like new for as long as possible. Luckily, while I'm at work I park it in the back of our warehouse which is swamp-cooled during the summer so it stays out of the sun and heat pretty much all day. It's just when I get back home to the small garage that it heats up in there. Essentially I move it from one garage to another until I get to go play on the weekends haha.

The sun eats your clear coat and eventually your paint. Being inside your garage is always much better than being outside, its not the heat that hurts your truck, its the UV rays.

If this is true, then I'm golden! I know the UV Rays are worse but was worried the heat would also contribute.

If you're worried about the temp of the engine/hood you could just pop the hood once you park it for the night, then just close it in the morning.
