    I did.

My holes were just a pinch off of even across, so I had to make them slightly bigger. Work carefully is what I am saying.

yea I'm planning on drilling a few sets of holes to account for uneven terrain.

Honestly, I've never needed more than two. If the terrain is too uneven, I'm looking for better terrain. I've never been so pinched for a good spot that I can't get the truck mostly level with some room for the ladder. Not sayin you're wrong, just that as a matter of practice, any camp spot that requires more than a little adjustment of the ladder will probably be suboptimal for lots of other reasons, too; It's possible to overthink your preparation for that event.

Yea I understand that.. and the fact that you can just angle the ladder steeper or more gradual to account for some un even terrain. But for how easy it is to add a couple more holes and never need to worry about it, id say its worth it. The offroad park we go to has a very un even parking area so I'll be picking up a set of those RV leveling blocks as well.

yea there were some REALLY low branches.

I was up there just a few weeks ago, and I think I know what you're talking about. Truth told, I've whacked my Ranier on lots of tree branches and its' held up great. Everything in WI, MI and MN is so overgrown....

Mine were a little out of square too. Took me a bit to figure out why both pins weren't locking at the same time.

 You broke it already?!?!? This is why we can't have nice things...

I drilled holes so the lock pins would go down when the ladder was in the close position.

Ad yes drill holes where ever it's needed to fit your rig height. Use a 3/8s bit, should be just oversized to make them fit good.

T mark where I wanted I put the ladder where I wanted then whacked the lock pins good and hard. It left a mark in the soft aluminum ladder and I drilled away.

What is this side rail you speak of? Are you talking about the bar that holds up the overhang?

There is a brace that goes to the side of the ladder. It was in one of the pouches that came with the tent.

So you are talking about the 2 ladder supports on either side?

Finally got time to install the Rainier today. Appears to be another instance of a backwards annex zipper, but that shouldn't be too hard to fix so no biggie. Came up with a solution to the cab interfering with one if the rain fly poles, just ran a line to roof rack to hold it open.
