Help, I am strongly considering buying a TRD S/C for my 2010 4.0 6 Speed. I am looking around on TTORA and there are lots of misleading threads and I am trying to find out once and for all what the truth is. On that site many are saying if you just bolt the charger on at sea level ( I live in NC) that you are going to get pre det and on and on. They recommend installing with the URD 7th injector, and the 2.2 pulley. Does anyone know if this relates to older models or to the 2gen as well?

Also I am not looking for neck snapping performance, I just want the charger to make passing, towing/hauling a little easier plus general around town a little more fun. It looks like most of the guys on TTORA are running S/C on 1st gen trucks. Does this mean that a true bolt on trd will be fine on the 2010?

You will have no problems at sea level with pre-det on a stock supercharger (S/C) on a 2010 Tacoma. However, if you add the 2.2 pulley without adding the 7th injector you will have problems, you said you aren’t looking for neck snapping performance, so don’t put the 2.2 pulley on, that would require several other mods to avoid problems. The supercharger will add enough power to make towing/hauling easier. If you want a little more power (you will) add the URD 2.85 or 2.825 pulley, the Toyota reflash can handle those pulley’s without further modification. The 1st gen S/C if different from the 2nd gen S/C, you can bolt on a 2ND gen S/C and go without issue. I hope this answers your questions; I have been up all night and might be typing nonsense, you will not regret getting a supercharger.

First off, there is no 2.2" pulley for the TRD/1GR. So that will help in not having pre-detination. The smallest is by URD and is the 2.55".

First thing is first though. Check out http://www.dezod.com/cat_fuel.cfm or www.urdusa.com and find a fuel pump that is right for you. Install that. The factory one is the weakest link after S/C install.

The TRD reflash is capable of handling the 2.7" pulley as long as you do the FPR mod. With supporting performance mods, you will have a very fun truck.

If you really want to be well informed, www.xr-underground.com, and secondly TW.

Dudes, thank you for the help. I guess it is a two sided coin. On one hand I had hoped that someone would have said yea you need all this other shit at which point I would have just saved myself about 4600 bucks, but in this case you all, once again have convinced me to spend my hard earned deployment money. Thanks for the help. :)
