How much heat do these things put off in the cab of the truck?

LOTS of wiring, dual battery setup, Solar charging system, with some random lights spread around here and there.
With the ARB and the Whytner on in the back seat of the truck it was barely noticeable.

Look on the first page also. One of the other guys will post some readings hopefully. When I get mine I will do the same.

My intentions are for the bed of my truck though. That is where I want to keep mine.

Some notable quotes here from the article.
So far in my preliminary research things are looking like the AMPS/ to Cooling time is what I suspected it was. Higher the AMP draw the faster it cools.

Based on appearance, it appears that the Whynter brand is just a rebranded Edgestar?.

If so, the thread linked below is wonderful in that it goes back to 2009 and it chronicles many peoples experiences with the product, the good, the bad, etc. Lot's of testing and reporting done, etc.

    Cheap Fridge <$400 shipped

I don't own one and to each his own, but just wanted to share information for others who may be interested.

National Luna is the cat's meow as far as fridges go. Expensive, yes, but you are getting what you pay for. ARB is excellent quality as well but the NL line is superior IMO.

I personally have an older model ARB. It has been great! I mount it on a platform in the rear seat area if it's just me and one passenger. If I have more people in the truck it gets moved to the bed where I have 12v power.

Don't mind the ratchet straps. Those have since been replaced with an Engel Transit lock system to secure the fridge.

I have read a few reviews now and yes, I would be inclined to agree. The National Luna looks entycing. But at a REAL priuce.

I just ordered the Overland Journal Summer 2010 and the 2013 gear editions.

But, I would look at the links I posted. What size were you considering getting?

I assume your talking to me? I have had great experiences with various brands over the years. I too agree ARB is a great company. BUT right now I cannot afford to pay for a product that is rebranded then marked up. Not right now that is. Ultimately, I would like to get ahold of a National LUNA to do some testing on a fridge that MSRP is $3k.

I am coppying both our posts to the LINK I posted above. Lets chat there in the Fridge BS thread.

Skygear, I like you. Haha you clearly have a niche for these fridges. Looking forward to this thread. Thus far though, all you've made me do is lust after national lunas hahaha. I'm gonna find and post an ARB product review video I found really helpful when researching these. I really like the engel's, and National Luna's, but when it boils down to it, the ARB is the only one DESIGNED from the ground up to be taken off road and jostled around. I'd be very surprised if even a national luna held up to the torture tests I'd guess the ARB's went through.

I don't know, I'm the type of guy that will brand whore all day long though. All of my outdoors gear, for example, is made by a small company called montbell. The sleeping bags have a special water resistand coating on them that makes them very slippery. On a thermarest you'll slide all over the place but the Montbell sleeping pads have a secondary coating that actually creates friction when next to a MB sleeping bag. The two were designed from the ground up for a purpose to be used in conjunction.

I say that to illustrate how much I appreciate using things for their intended purpose, and in their best working environment. The ARB is the only one I'd trust to bounce around in the bed of my truck along the trail. One because of its design, and two because of the weight that company puts into serving the customer.

Yeah, that is the one from the article I posted first on the 5 things you need to know about fridges.

My buddy got the 50qt a month ago. Its about the size of your standard cooler. It'd be enough cold food for a weekend but more than that would be a stretch. I'm looking at the 82 and 63
