My arguement here for myself is cost. I wanted a BIG one. Meaning the 82-85 quart versions. Without someone local to take a look at the different ones with me, I have to start out on the low end of the price range. That leaves money for the other stuff to get done for now.

Some of the other stuff NOT mentioned was actual COOL DOWN TIMES> With a larger engine/ motor. You could probably make a safe bet that it would cool down faster than most at a great price. Between $500 - $800 depending on the WHYNTER version you go with. Vs the other one I was looking at in the same capacity @ over $2k! For me in the fridge area, it has to be a steady break in.

Warranty, well, depending on where you get your stuff from. The RETAILER offers warrantys on top of the manufacturers. If you get it from a NATIONAL retailer like I did, then it isn't just the manufacturer standing by it.

Plus on the WHYNTER, I have NOT read anywhere where people have issues with out of warranty claims. On the contrary, the reviews and reports have said more that they are there LIVE on the phone to walk through the troubleshooting and are quick to get them taken care of.

This is what will hopefully work for me right now. If it doesn't meet my standards, I'll get something different.

I already have a few tests lined up for it.

    1. 24hr battery drain in the truck on 1 battery
    2. cool down times to temp.
    3. 1 week of driving around with it powered in the bed during a normal week
    4. Fast Freeze actual time.

More to be determined. - BUT for now these are some of the Ideas I have and will all be done off the truck 12v not the inverter.

Also, I think all these posts need a seperate thread!

Yes it's a wrap over the entire truck. It's becoming more and more popular. It offers an extra layer against small brush scratches (pin striping) and is super easy to care for. Plus, you can make it any color you want.

Agreed. But when other people are paying for it, what the hell. I'll take one.

There was another thread that just popped up yesterday that I saw that a member ordered a roll of the stuff from somewhere in San Antonio TX and did it himself for about 550.00. Let me try to find it....

I'm interested in your tests, but when it comes down to it for me, I'm going with ARB because of the name. Not just the name, but what that means. ARB's customer service is nothing short of top notch. A friend of mine was being a bonehead and engaged his front locker while the wheels were spinning at 10 mph and fried a couple pieces in there. When the shop that installed it called ARB they said they didnt have the parts in stock, but were going to call him back when they figured something out. They ended up tearing a shelf unit apart and overnighting the parts at no cost to anyone but themselves. Its stories like that that make me a pretty devoted customer to a brand like that.

I assume your talking to me? I have had great experiences with various brands over the years. I too agree ARB is a great company. BUT right now I cannot afford to pay for a product that is rebranded then marked up. Not right now that is. Ultimately, I would like to get ahold of a National LUNA to do some testing on a fridge that MSRP is $3k.

I am coppying both our posts to the LINK I posted above. Lets chat there in the Fridge BS thread.

Question for the RTT owners, im thinking about upgrading from my truck tent to a RTT, is the tent made from the same material as a regular tent or is it canvas? Do you get any moisture inside in colder weather?

Tent is just tent material I suppose..little thicker.

I get some condensation yes in the winter. A small pad under the mattress to circulate air is supposed to help. Hasn't tested that tho yet.

Either way. It's an amazing upgrade and ill never ground tent again. Well..unless back packing...but either way. Totally worth it. Love it.
