It does come back to the second amendment cause it is the only amendment that makes the other rights possible

    Private school for 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th grades ;)

My 8th grade class actually went on a 2-week tour of Washington DC, Colonial Williamsburg, Georgetown, Gettysburg, and other places.
Got to shake hands with Senator Alan Cranston. One of the guys in my room tried really hard to get through to Jimmy Carter on the phone.

It's called experience, wisdom, and restraint, guy. The "old people" you speak of have already experienced things you won't face for several more years or even decades. That gives them unique experience you simply don't have. Further, the elderly tend to be far less rash (more prudent, less short-sighted or careless), keeping this country as a whole on a more even keel. You may not like that, but with younger people and your term limits, this country would likely be going through radical changes or shifts every few years.

By the way, as for driving, seniors are the safest drivers on the road, accounting for less accidents or injuries than any other age group. In fact, according to NHTSA's Traffic Safety Facts 2006 (latest), those between the ages of 16 to 20 alone (just 5 years) account for nearly double the number of deaths or injuries of all those over 65 combined (416,000 versus 228,000). At least part of that is likely directly attributable to experience, wisdom, and restraint.

He didn't... Sammy did... and he did so in a non-partisan and moderately respectful way.

Your comment is going to get this thread locked (again).

...and word has been for the last couple of years that this is her last trip and she is not planning on running again, but given her agenda and the events of the last 6 months, it would not surprise me to see her take another term.

how is it against the law? don't you think that if it was against the law that congress would not allow it to happen?

show me a law that says they're not allowed access to the metadata and all the data that has been mined as a result of this PRISM thing. it's not really an illegal search because metadata and records do not belong to you and when you sign up for Facebook or anything like that when you click that you accept their terms and conditions you are basically allowing them full access to anything you say or do while using their service.

i don't know why people are so quick to cry about their rights being infringed upon. if you aren't versed in the intelligence community's inner workings then you probably don't have a clue as to what actually goes on in the NSA.

i'm not trying to be rude and i apologize if i am coming off as such.

I haven't read through this whole thread and I don't plan to, so I apologize if I am repeating someone's thoughts earlier on.

Does the government grabbing all our data make us safer? As far as I can tell, no. The Boston Marathon Bombing still happened, didn't it? They cannot guarantee us 100% security and safety. People are going to attack us, we are going to heal and rebuild. I do not mind the government trying to discourage attacks from happening, in fact I encourage it! You can take my data and analyze it to the ends of the earth - there is nothing you will find that would be incriminating.

The real issue comes to play when they take the data in secret and then come back and say "well we were doing it to make you safer!" It is like the kid who was caught with their hand in the cookie jar. I hate to do it because the conversation takes on the life of a run away freight train, but what is to stop the government from doing whatever they please in the name of safety?

We could pull drivers over for random searches (like a DUI checkpoint) because that 1 out of 100 million searches may yield something. Well, technically the government may have made us safer, but at the price of 100 million folks being violated? Sorry, I would rather take my chances.

If you don't want your 4th amendment, or any other right for that matter, then you are free to leave.

This type of thinking is exactly why the Government can get away with stuff like this.

I was sent an official email at work telling me to stay off any news article pertaining to this at work. I could be in trouble with the AF if I do it.

So, do you, and all others in the military listen to those appointed above you, or do you protect and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign, AND DOMESTIC?

Can't get into things on this forum and I won't. It can get borderline.

I will say I check out ALL news at home.
