I just finished the BHLM yesterday and decided it was time to finish off the chrome and paint the grill.

    Dupli-Color Supplies: Adhesion Promoter (x1) / Primer (x1) / 1E7 Silver Streak Mica (x2) / Clear Coat (x2)

Black inserts were masked off and the chrome sanded with 320 grit paper.

3 coats of the adhesion promoter waiting 10 minutes between coats. I didn't take pictures of this step because it is clear.

3 coats of primer waiting 10 minutes between coats. After 1 hour I sanded it lightly with 2000 grit.

4 coats of the base silver. The last coat being heaviest and then I misted it to keep it uniform.

    2nd clear coat.

    3rd clear coat.

    Final clear coat done.

Reinstalled. I don't think I'm going to wet sand it either, it came out great for garage shop rattle can job. I'll hit it with polish in a couple days and seal it with wax.

I just dont like the duplicolor clear. Theres better brands out there. Doesnt mean it wont come out good though, i just think its easier to get good results with different clear coats, even out of a spray can.

Thanks, it was $55. I already had the sandpaper and painters tape. I wasn't even expecting as close of a match as it is. Now I'm thinking about the mirrors.

Nice work! Go for it with the mirrors. I painted my mirrors and door handles and they turned out great. It's been over a year and they still look like they did the day I painted them

Did you really need 3 coats of adhesion promoter? Thought you just spray one layer and while its still a little tacky, you start the first coat of primer... Well that's what I thought the process is suppose to go.
Did you use both cans of base coat and both cans of clear? I'm about to do this also and I don't want to buy two of each if I don't have to.

I did three coats of adhesion promoter because I have never used it and I couldn't see it going on. As far as the base coats and clear, yes, you definitely need two cans of each. I wouldn't do more than two coats of paint per can because if you get to the bottom of a can it will start throwing blobs. As far as the wax goes, not sure, but the can says I can wet sand after 48 hours.
