    Hey,

I have two large Labs that shed and track in mud all over my truck. Can anyone recommend a rear seat cover, that fits well, and protects the rear seats and the backs of the front seats, and is easy to install and remove.

    Thanks!

    I have a quad cab.

I have the Cabela's seat cover for my rear seat...I think it fits well and is easy to remove and put on. However, it does not protect the back of the front seats but I think they also make front seat covers though.

I have two dogs and it keeps the hair/dirt/mud off the back seat very well.

X2 for Cabela's seat covers. Relatively cheap and they work great for the hunting dog that is spoiled by sitting in the back seat on the way out to the field.

Save the money you'd spend on seat covers and make a rear seat platform instead. Its cheaper and makes more room for both labs than just the bottom seat.

I think that I will be doing the same thing and make a covered deck for the dogs but I plan to pull all the rear seats out then adding the deck and cover. Should give a lot more room for the dogs and for hunting season.

I bought a couple of the hammock type covers (since 1 isn't quite long enough) that I drape from the back seat headrests and the front seat headrests. Plus a section of carpet for traction. Good coverage for blocking hair and pretty easy to deal with.

Thanks guys. I should mention, I also find that the carpet i used helps catch and hold the hair fairly good as well.

I used this platform for 3 years now and I love it. Can't go wrong that's for sure.

x2, screw seat covers, use this platform idea. I stole this idea also but I just use a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet. I hook it on the seat hooks on the cab's rear wall and where the seat headrest posts to secure the front where they insert into the seat pan once it's folded forward. It makes like a hammock for him and keeps all his fur off of the seats.

Second for hammock covers. I got this one for about $50 at petco:

    http://www.kurgostore.com/dog-travel/wander-hammock/

Water proof, comes in a few colors, and keeps the dog(s) from flying into the front during an accident (somewhat at least, up to about driver shoulder/neck level barrier). Comes in a neat little bag with a water bottle, and takes about 30 seconds to remove or install. You can also zip half up if you want someone to share the backseat with your dog.

That is why I think ditching the rear seat is best and what I plan to do.
It will set the dogs lower in the cab and give them more room.

The straps for the Hammock that go around the front head rest, they can stop the air bag in the seat from working correct and forcing the headrests up to you head.

I actually built something last night that took me about 20 minutes and cost around $40

    1/2" MDF board cut to:

    Bottom: 53.5" x 24"
    Back: 53.5" x 22"

Top of the backing had to be angled a little because of the shape of the cab. I used door hinges so that it would hinge closed and lay flat for storage. Wrapped the whole thing in carpet...Ill get pics when I finish it. Just letting the carpet adhere and I gotta staple it in a few places to prevent peeling.

Great thread guys! I think I'm going to go with something like Mountain Dog is doing. A hammock style cover that covers pretty much everything and place a section of carpet to help flatten it out and provide more protection and comfort for the dogs. :)
