Angled back works great for me. Angling your shocks forward just allows you to have a smaller bedcage and "more" bedspace, but if you want that room for a tool box, then angling back shouldnt be a problem.

Cool! Yeah I'm not super worried about losing bed space. As you can see I don't have like any as it is. I store a lot of my tools and stuff in the toolbox so I don't want to replace it.

Angling them backwards is actually going to give you a better motion ratio then fowards. SO the answer is yes do it.

yeah you should remove those...weld something over the angled slots that s a circle...switch to delrin bushings and use grade 8 bolts

Mine are angled back ~10 degrees, really close to 1:1 shock stroke to travel

But your would have to be angled more for 16's

They are llike this stock to help with axle wrap. Essentially dampening it when the axle trys to roll using the shocks.

I will have to look up what motion ratio means... haha but at least you guys have let me know I can do it!

So like 1:1 or better wheel travel:Shock travel?

Well if I hit almost 1:1 ratio I will need shocks longer than 16's... getting pricey. haha

18's shouldn't cost much more, its just harder to find 18's used

in all seriousness though... like others have said it has been done and its actually works well.

my buddy Gerry had his ranger setup this way for the exact reason you were mentioning, tool boxes and shit in the bed.

some pics, not of my buddies truck but another ranger that had a similar setup.
