As you know, I'm not too up to date on the technology front, although I have checked out that site for some things that are out of my maps' range. Falcon Guide's second edition GPS Compatible map book and a old map is about all we use. Might actually invest in a :gasp: GPS unit soon.

lol yea, no problem with that. I would like to get a real *gasp* paper/laminate topo map of that area. I tend to use my phone for all my GPS stuff (all-in-one), though it relies on the internet which I don't get out there. I just save some maps for offline use and I can see my current position on the map. The problem with that is battery..

I do have a map that Courtney got me a while back that has been pretty spectacular. It' a Northwestern NC, Northeastern TN, and Southwestern VA map that is waterproof and "tearproof". It's what we use the majority of the time for any long-distance hikes and some of the short ones. Footsloggers in BR usually has it. Been pretty impressed with it so far.

Where are you guys looking to go this weekend? If you want to meet up with me I'll show you where I am gonna camp and we can figure out somewhere to camp. I want to go to little lost cove and see some of the waterfalls in the area. I'll be there with some other people that haven't been that far out in the woods so I want to impress them without killing them with too rough of a hike.

May be headed to do some climbing in the Gorge, but not sure yet. That'll put us northeast of you, but we aren't decided yet. How many you got with you?
