    new 2004 2.4l owner here. taking care of some preventative maintenance. where is the fuel filter on a regular cab pickup with this engine?

    getting there....
    your fuel filter will be located under your intake manifold. kinda a pita to get to, but i think if you remove your wheel and pull back some of the fender well flap, you can get to it easier.

    You'll need to loosen the manifold to actually get filter out IIRC.

Skyjacker AAL's and replacement leafs(and front spacers) from Fatbobsgarage.com. Skyjacker 7000 Hydro rear shocks, those Bilstein 5100 fronts are coming soon!
    I have the same issue with my 2.7. What a dumbass place to put a fuel filter. Is it at all possible to get it out without messing with the intake manifold?????????

    maybe if your double jointed, but other than that. either through the wheel well or removing the manifold. i was going to change mine one day but quickly canceled.

    On my 83 chevy diesel, there was a fuel filter under the rear of the intake. I fabbed up a remote filter close to the brake booster. Is it possible to fab a remote filter location?

    You will just have to extend your fuel lines, or run new ones.

    i'll do that eventually but not tomorrow. i'm gonna do the plugs and the fuel filter so that should keep me busy most of the morning.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Also, It may be easier to jack up the driver side of the truck, pull the wheel and tire, and get at the filter from the fender well. :)

    Ya, I looked under my wheel well at the fuel filter, nah.... I'll pay someone to do it...lol

    My owners manual calls for replacement of my FF every 40K. I now have 138K and who knows when it was done last.

    mine 04 has 47k. i believe the ff is supposed to be part of the 30k maintenance. at any rate, i went in thru the wheelwell and it took about 45 minutes. removed the wheel, removed the lines, removed the filter bracket and put the new ff in it then put it all back together. no problems.

    Actually, Toyota says the fuel filter is a non-serviceable item, but people change them quite often.
