well, im still not done lol. the job is not difficult, but I find most automotive stuff to be fairly easy. from the point of view as "all it is is nuts and bolts, the tricky part would have been designing this stuff"

my factory clamp job did not hold up. I used end nippers to try and crimp them with mild success at first and then my axle clamp (the little one) on the outer boot failed a couple weeks ago. still waiting on my order of 3/8 wide worm drives from Macmaster-Carr.

since your doing the inner boot only, I will say that I have had no problems with that one. I had to take both boots off as my problem was the outer. the big clamp on the inner boot took some creativity with needle nose pliars as it does not crimp, it just locks into place. the little clamp on the inner boot I failed to get what I would refer to as "tight" but it has also been leak-free.

if you have the tools and the time, go for it. heres my writeup

Thanks for the link to the write up. I will probably be tackling this this weekend so this is good information.

Thanks man. The job went pretty well, though I see why people are into just replacing the axle that would probably be only an hour or 2 job per side. I like the work though so I enjoyed it. I have a few pics of the "tulip" and a puller i found to work wonders (after a while wasted effort with other methods) that I might post onto your write up thread if you don't mind. Took me half of the time to do the second side like most jobs.

Where did you get your clamps? I already have a little bit of seeping going on, the only clip I was confident in was the lager inboard as you had to compress it to the max to get it on.... those pinch ones are no fun I wish I had the tool that toyota uses to crimp those bad boys.
