Yes I have the Dakar's. They were a little squeaky at first but they've been quiet recently. I really like them.

That should be a nicely setup rack. sounds similar to one i designed a number of years ago. it was for a t-100, and went over a fiberglass shell, with an integrated roof rack. unfortunately it was never built, but i liked the concept.

Anyone in the area make a pipe bumper for a 1st Gen? The one I want is for a 2nd Gen and he would need a 1st Gen in his shop to make it and he's obviously in CA. Even if he did make one, all the bumpers I've found have outrageous shipping fees and I don't want any of that mess. Plus I know there's not a lot to it and dirt cheap to make. I can weld and fit but I'm not that good....
Will end up with a Trail Gear bumper if I can't get one made.

Cant seem to find the right bumper either. I personally like pre-runner style bumpers but have yet to find one for a 2013. Much less one that also has a winch. I know which back bumper and sliders i want. Its the front thats a pain.

Also -- i looked at my tires. They are 265/75 R16. So i lied when i said mine were less than 10" wide. They are 10.45 according to the calculator. I could have sworn they were skinnier.

Where is this spot someone mentioned off of I10 and luetta (not sure i spelled that right)?

Sweet. I can say shit on this forum. Thank god

Anyway in order to get a place they ask for your income. So i wouldnt move here unless you scout it out, find a place you like, and also get accepted at a job.

The apartment im in now asked how long you have been there and everything but im sure most will accept the fact you just moved to houston.

At the place im at you have to make 3x then monthly rent. The cheapest apartment is around 600 and the highest is 1100 i believe. So youll have to make 1800 to 3300 a month in order to live here and this place isnt even considered nice. http://venterraliving.com/wilshireplace/rent_pricing_availability

There are apartments next to memorial mall that are owned by the company who owns the mall. Security pays 11 an hour i believe and they can set it up so rent comes out of your check after you work there for 3 months. Never lived there but i like the area. The apartment arent too expensive and dont look like much but like i said, the area isnt too bad. Plus you could actually just walk across the street to go to work.

Of course it may be best to find a buddy and rent from them untill you find a place and job if thats available

If your going to work the mall gig then ask about night shift. Its boring as hell but you dont have to do crap. There are only 2 guys working security at night and a guy on the cameras that spends more time on his phone than doing his job. So you could work night and do school during the day.

Tuition at lonestar community college is about 900 bucks a semester if your taking 4 classes. Then books of course will run up to 500 a semester (i just spent 350 for books for two clases. Ill pay another 200 probably for the next mini-mester.

If your 19 you may be able to fill out a FASFA and get a Pell Grant. Its not a loan, you do not have to pay it back.

    Where do you work now?

do you have certifications for welding? if so there are plenty of those jobs around. of course a life of welding isnt great on the lungs from what i hear.

yea i know how you feel. im married and im in school so all of my money is going towards bills or savings until we buy our house in october. once we buy our house i have the green light to start modding the truck so that will be nice.

im going to spread it out over a while. probably buying the sliders first because they protect the truck and then going from there. hopefully have it all done in a year.

Im personally not fond of houston. I would love to get a few acres in a small town (or in the middle of nowhere) and just relax. Of course im 29 so ive changed alot over the years(not old i know but im medically retired from the Marines so i like "the middle of nowhere"). My wife is 22 though so she would hate being too far from the city. I could spend the rest of my life without ever stepping foot in a mall (except for sears. that doesnt count). I dont think she can go that long.
