That is his high water mark. That is why I would keep him. It has been consistently down hill from there. Last season he was shut down by a rookie named Cutourier, and his team was shameful. How was he this year?

I like Malkin as a player. I think with some coaching he is one of the leagues most dominant players. I just agree with the overall observation that Russian players prove to be inconsistent, streaky or moody. Whatever you want to call it

Yes Datsyuk won the conn smythe in 08. He wasn't the team Captain however. Datsyuk is an awesome player, and the 08 playoffs really made him a household name, no doubt. He was great this year too. I think he is an even better example than Malkin. Love Datsyuk. Keep em comin guys. I am happy to see this.

 

Crosby is another conn smythe winner that did steller in this years playoffs... oh yeah

I am out of piss. I have your point. Datsyuk and Malkin are indeed great players. They both have even demonstrated great heart. I am not interested in compiling a list on names of North American and Swedish players that have achieved what those two have plus more. We all know it would be yards longer.

As I have said before, Russia has been a hockey powerhouse since the very beginning. I find it curious that Russian players have not consistently led teams to the Stanley cup.
