You probably have tried it, but just in case..maybe get some more dirt and grade it away from the house.

Correct, that's exactly what I'm saying but soil types are a factor. Water travels very quickly through sand so water levels will rise fairly uniformly so if you can pump at one spot, it'll keep the water level low enough across the entire basement. Clays and silts do not drain very quickly so you can drain down a single point but, since water can't travel through the clay, 50' away will still rise well above the sump pump until it eventually drains to the low point. In that case, the french drain around the perimeter draining to the sump wouldn't be a bad idea. Weigh out the cost difference between cutting the entire perimeter and just adding a second sump pit. You could do both on your own if the basement is unfinished. Just takes some time with a demo saw and shovel work. For a french drain, I would dig the trench, lay in a layer of filter fabric, put some stone in, then the pipe, then fill around the pipe with stone, wrap the filter fabric over top of the stone, backfill the rest of the way and run the pipe to your sump pit. Commercially, we have done french drains without the pipe, just using a close graded stone wrapped in filter fabric. Water flows through close graded rock very nicely and the filter fabric prevents smaller fine soils from 'clogging' the stone and also prevents sink holes from soil washing away into your drain system.

Thanks man! But now I only owe my dad $1,000! Then I'm closer to boost. For now I'm just saving $50 per week and paying my dad $50 per week

Sell the house. Buy one a that has a little more elevation above the seasonal water table. That'll solve your flooding problem.

Nice! Thanks for the advice. Where can you find PVC that is perforated only on one half of the pipe? Or would i have drill a thousand holes haha. Either situation i can handle it myself. My buddys dad had a demo saw and a hilti chipper hammer i can use. Wouldnt be my first time cutting through concrete haha.

They sell sched 40 perf at home cheapo, and just about everywhere else. Use filter fabric to keep sediment from washing out with the water. Backfill around the pipe with a clean 3/4" stone.

Yes, it's perforated all the way around but that's what you would use. That's why we've made drains without even using the pipe before. The pipe just helps move water a little faster if it rises in a hurry.

Any big-box home improvement store should have that kind of pipe. A local ACE Hardware or similar might have it also.

I've used two kinds for drainage: 3" pvc which is perforated on opposite sides, and 3" black flexible plastic tubing which has slits cut into it all over the place.

As Pugga said, designed to move water fast if the need arises.

Listen to these guys. They iz smaht. If you're really worried about it have 2 sumps, each in an opposite
Corner of the basement, with a French drain.
If you have low permeability soil a outside perimeter drain would be good, but very expensive to intercept any runoff prior to reaching your house.

    Not smart enough...

We did a french drain on a nice house built on the side of a large rolling hill. 10 or so acres above the house was developed later and the runoff (sheet flow and laminar flow) was hitting the owners foundation and forcing itself into the basement. The "not smart enough" part was my monkey ass in a 12' deep trench (no trench box) running filter fabric and drainage pipe to intercept the water. We back-filled the entire trench with 3/4" crush to complete the break and 6" of loam on top to make the lawn pretty again.

I did manage to get a nice 2 percent grade over the length the pipe and drain it to daylight :D

Back in my landscraping days. We did a lot of "funny" shit that was not OSHA approved.

I want to say $170 or so . You won't need them unles your getting a bumper/winch/ full skid . When I contacted icon they said if I had a extra 200lbs + then the springs would be a good idea anything under 200 and the reccomend not using this spring .
