So from the looks of the original gear, I don't think that is your problem. Do you have a cordless drill you can attach to the speedo cable to spin it and see if the speedo turns? I was trying to get you to show me the original gear before you ordered the new one. No big deal as you can sell the old one on the forums

Yeah, I guess you're right because after I swapped out the gear yesterday evening, I turned on the engine and stepped on the gas paddle, but the speedo didn't do anything.

I don't have the cordless drill to test the speedo. What should I do now?

If you don't have a drill, cordless or not, then I guess the next cheapest thing is the cable. But its all mechanical, so either the cable or the speedo is bad.

You could pull the instrument cluster, and disconnect the cable from the speedometer, then turn the inner part of the cable down below and have someone sit in the cab to see if the cable turns inside. That would save you from buying extra parts.

Ok, I just bought an electric wire drill, not cordless drill, yesterday evening. How can I test it or what should I do with it?

Thank you so much for your time to teach a dump person like me here. I appreciate for your help.

Comparing the drill to what you told me here, which one is the easier for me?

Taking the instrument cluster out is a fair amount of work. So if you have a drill just lightly close the chuck (part that holds the drill bit) down on the center of the cable and have someone sit in the cab while you turn the drill on. If the speedo works you have issues. If not, you will have to pull the cluster to figure out if it is the cable or speedo.

I got back home last night from out of town since Saturday afternoon. I drove my truck to Wal-Mart this morning and the speedo was working fine without doing about what you subjected to me above. I guess the problem was the gear as you told me to replace it.

I told you earlier that the speedo didn't work after I replaced it when I turned on the Engine and stepped on the gas paddle. I did that but I didn't test drive and I thought it didn't work, but it did fine this morning.

I appreciate for what you told/taught me. Again, the speedo was working fine this morning. I'll tested drive again and then I'll let you know.

My truck now the speedometer works fine but I noticed the truck ran slower while the speedo is higher. For instance, I ran 70 mph but I feel like the truck just ran like 65 mph or something. Does it normal or anything wrong with it? I replaced the gear with the 30t which is the normal for a V6.
