When my alternater went bad in my old truck my guages did all sorts of wierd stuff. You could always rule out the alt by getting it tested since thats cheap and easy

While I was getting one of my complimentary oil changes today in Lander a sales/lease guy and I started chatting about my truck, which led to talking about his trucks :D He might join leg 2 of monte's trip. He's got a few toyota trucks, cant remember which years but late 80's early ninties. He's been down into Shoshone a few times and seems like a really cool guy! I told him about TW so hopefully he pops up.

Im thinking thats what it is as well. I think if half way worked when I reved up the engine then I just cut out, because when I went to bring it to the shop, it barely turned over. And my tach dial stopped working along with the speedo but it worked most of the time. Windows barely rolled down, shifter wouldnt let me shift from park to drive ect ect

Yea mine only would put down 400whp maybe 450. Wanted it for a street car/ touring. Was stoked t tear down chief Joseph hwy with it haha but yea you gotta love the cars that are tweaked like that. Takes a ton if time and money t upkeep em..not that we are much different..

Guy I sold it too said he would sell it back to me in a few years :)

But I agree. I found I loved getting out in the mountains more and camping bit was the perfect combo of camping and driving for me. Hence why I sold and parted it out to buy half my shit that's on frank now haha

Did he say how hard he thought it was??

    Yea...bad alternator..and battery sounds like

Ditto what monte said, sounds just like when my alt died. Careful, some alt testers don't tell you everything, or the people running it don't know anything, so if it comes back fine have another shop check it...

@Monte, from our brief convo it sounded like he had no problems but he said it's hard on your truck! He showed me a picture of his '86 with 33's on it in a group of four wheelers on the trail to shoshone, his 86 was rough but looked awesome!!! Don't know why he sold it, but he has like 9 vehicles i guess, ha perks of working at a dealership, you see all kinds of sweet rigs you can pick up for cheap, especially around here. I should tell him to keep me posted on anything sweet he finds! Really cool guy and just sounds like a fun guy to wheel with!

I think it won't be long down the shoshone trail and all the fk's will fly out the window about a new truck lol. Honestly its been hard going from an older truck to a new one that I can't get over feeling bad about getting a little trail damage on. I mean I'm probably going to be burried in the truck i'm drivin now... Why not start the memory oops's early right!?

    Ha! No kidding :p

I'm sure you'll get more pin strips on Christina. Under age is gonna beat to hell on Shoshone tho haha should be fun :D

    Hmm..

Probably Casper. Big oil there. Or Gillette possibly. Coal mines there.

Anywhere n the big horn basin(where I live) there is lots of oil stuff too.

    :notsure:

Idk much about Laramie or Cheyenne but could be possibilities there.

The guy who owns the shop actually has a really sick tacoma that might be bobbed? Idk and has a arb type front bumper with what looks like chevy rear springs. He know's his shit about tacomas so I honestly think he'll help me out the most he can.
Born and raised in Casper, now in Laramie. I think I've had enough wind for my entire life.
