Mangled my brake dust shield trying to get drum off!

    LOL! Didn't you say you were sure to check the parking brake?

    It's ok, everyone's done it at least once.

    I wouldn't use any lube to remove the drum. Any residue can get slung to the inner surface of the drum and ruin your ability to brake. Clean everything really well with brake clean before reassembly.

    Just a note for anyone else that may stumble on this thread looking for help with drum removal. Obviously, as said above, the best way to accomplish this is to adjust the star adjuster in to contract the shoes.

    However, since the M8x1.25 bolt trick was mentioned earlier - Toyota actually has a part # for the bolt designed to pop off the drum. The part # is: 90099-04306-83
