Well guys I went and looked at 2 double cabs 4x4 today and now I really want one. The first one a looked at was a 2004 with 83k miles but it looked like it had been beat to hell so I didn't even waste my time driving it. The 2nd one I looked at today was a 03 with 110k miles that needed some work. The clear coat on the roof is pretty much gone and it needs a timing belt. Also I can tell its been off roaded because there is still mud on the engine even after the dealer cleaned it. They are asking $13,888 for it but I am thinking about coming to them with a cash offer of $10,500 and going from there. What do you guys think?

Here are some pictures of the 2003

Well guys I finally picked yup a tacoma! I was able to pick the 02 double cab from the lady for a decent price. I was amazed how clean this truck is for being 11 years old and it came a binder full of service records. I am very happy with my purchase. I will post some pics of it tomorrow.

Hey guys sorry I wasn't able to get many pictures because I have had a pretty busy week. I was able to grab a couple pics yesterday but I will get some better ones soon. I plan on taking off the side steps, window visors, and mud flaps. My patience defiantly paid off big time. One the way home from buying the truck I averaged 21 mpg :).

Congrats! Very nice looking double cab. I looked and looked before I found mine. I wound up with a 2001 DC, 4x4, TRD, auto with 220,000 miles. Picked it up for $8200 from original owner. In the first month I put in a new radiator, water pump, and timing belt. That's been it and the truck runs like a new one. I was hesitant about buying something with 200,000 plus miles but since then I've seen a lot of Tacos with 300,000 miles plus. How many miles does yours have and do you mind telling us what kind of deal you got? Either way, good find and you can't beat a DC Taco. Besides a FJ80 Land Cruiser, my favorite.

Wow that's awesome man that it runs like new at 220,000. My truck is right at 147,000 and I was able to pick it for $11,000. I'm sure I paid too much but this truck is so clean and it also being a 1 owner with all of the records made it totally worth it. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it :D

You didn't pay too much, that's a good deal. I had several people tell me they would not pay what I did for mine and kept giving me all these examples of 1st Gen DC's that were a lot cheaper but they were also 2 wheel drive pre runners. Around the mountain areas of Tennessee where I live, you can't give away a 2 wheel drive taco or 4runner. I would say a 2 wheel drive with the same miles is worth $3000 - $4000 less than a 4x4.

Good buy! I have looked at several of the same trucks you have posted. I sold my 96 sr5 4x4 with 155k on it and now in the market for a little newer 1st gen. I don't quite have the freedom of budget you do but I have seen some decent deals for 6-7k. Just nothing I want to sink the bank in yet. where in Houston are you? I am in huntsville/trinity area

Thanks! Ya a lot of the tacomas for sale in Houston are either really expensive, beat, or both. The way I came to get mine was I saw it on craigslist a while back and had emailed the seller but didn't hear anything back so I figured it was sold. The day I was about to give up on getting a tacoma and about to purchase a 4runner she finally emailed me back saying that the tacoma was still for sale. She said she had been out of town for a while thats why she didn't respond. So my girlfriend and I drove up to Kileen a few days later and returned with the truck :D. I remember seeing your 96 for sale on craigslist, it was really nice. Why did you get rid of it? Currently I am in NW Houston but this weekend we are moving up to The Woodlands.
