Who does your oil changes?

IIRC ... ie... my old 1997 C4-S ... 993/911 ... took 12 qts. of synthetic and 2 separate oil filters and the stock units took the same.

Some of the other heavier RUF conversions took as many and 18 qts. of synthetic and had 4 separate oil filters ...

Plus Porsche charges a premium for everything from hourly labor to the stock parts. Small *"front wind blade" costs over $125.00 wholesale and it looked like a long windshield wiper. (*that small piece of rubber you tear on the front on curbs when parking too close)

If I had my choice again .... I would buy the Honda S-2000. ... but the C4-S did handle like a "slot car" ... another "slot car handling machine" was the ... 4WS (4 wheel steer) Prelude with the Vtec ...

I used to drive some fancy cars but always concerned about scratching them ... my favorite vehicles were a 198-Something Subaru Wagon with cyclops eye in front ... early 1990s Honda 4WS Prelude and my Toyota Tacoma (which has the easiest oil change in the world) ...

I buy my only Mobil Ext & eather a Mobil filter or K&N & take it to the dealer for 15.00

 

Pfft. Me NOW. My two year "free" oil changes expired last month.

 

When I got my truck last week I asked about the last oil change and found that it was still under toyotacare so I'm going to take it one time to them so they can rotate the tires and do their inspection. After that I'm switching it to synthetic and doing it myself.

 

My self. Would never let some kid at jiffy lube touch my truck or any of my other vehicles. If you are a man you should know how to change oil at the least...

In MY opinion an Oil Change on a Taco is so easy that if you don't do it yourself you need to have your Man-Card Suspended for 90 days.

Besides being easy to do, it gives you a chance to do a 'Wrench Around' on your truck and make sure everything is in order. In addition, you can use the money saved to upgrade to a better lubricant if you so choose.

Recently, I changed mine and after pulling the skid plate off I cleaned it up and repainted it with some bed Liner paint.

I do not want to Ride my Taco and put her up Wet. Be good to your Taco and she will be good to You.

I need to get me one of those quick drain plugs from the group buy section too.

 

I have taken it to the dealership the first couple of times. Now that I bought tires from them, I will probably keep doing that since I can get the free tire rotation each time. But from now on I might do like others have said, bring my own oil and filter and just pay for labor.

Reluctantly, until I clear my 2 year service warranty the dealership will do it. But hearing all the horror stories ill mark my oil filter to make sure they Chang it and check my oil levels before I leave! Post-it note on the steering wheel to make sure they don't wash it either!

They can not void your warranty for not having the work performed at the dealer.

 

I had a service contract with the dealer but it expired at 25K. So now I do them, mostly at home but I can do it at the shop where I work.

As for the filter, While I am draining the oil. I use a cup to catch the oil through the drain hole on the oil cooler.

 

I do all oil changes i can. Since the 2year maitinence is free, i might as well take advantage of it for now. Once its up though, itll be me in the driveway (already did one change at 1500 miles and I LOVE that i don't have to jack up the truck).
