    Hello
I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma off road package and i was wondering i want to install a black mesh grill, my question is do i have to take off my bumper to take off my old grill, and if so any directions.
(and where do you get a clip removal tool?)
    thanks much appreciated
    Mike

You don't have to take off the bumper. Just use a flat head screw driver to take out the plastic clips. They are two screws that you have to take off at the top/middle of the grill. There is also a plastic clip on the bottom, in the middle of the grill. You can't see it. Feel around and you can find it. There are two push down clips by either side of the headlights and there is 6 that hold the grill to the bumper. I broke the two push down clips to get the sides of the grill out, they were in there pretty good. Once all you have left is the 6 bottom push clips you can pull the grill out. It usually on takes a few minutes after you know what you're doing. But it can be done.

After you remove above mentioned screws/clips the grill pulls straight out. I though I was breaking it the first time but it was just the 6 clips on the bottom making noise.

Yeah! I am not sure. I took my grill off to plastic dip it. I never ended up plasti dipping it but now I know how to take my grill off. I am so not mechanically inclined and I did it. So I know you can do it.

I shit myself when I did that. I thought that I broke all six. They are alot stronger than the two big, push down clips by each of the headlights. I tried to push down the 6 and they wouldn't move, I didn't want to break them so all I did was pull.

IDK as I plan to replace the bumpers eventually. From what I understande though, Grillecraft has inserts that require no modification to the lower valence. Again this is based off of minimal research.

Yeah! Just wait until some of the other members who have done this chime in. I don't know anything to when it comes to this either.

What plastic clips did you break? The two by each headlight or one of the six? If I were you I'd glue them back together if you can. I wouldn't replace it if I didn't have to. If you're going to put an aftermarket grill in there anyways, what's the point?

If it was one of the four that you pop up and out with a screwdriver, yes you should be able to replace them. If it was one of the 6 clip/tabs on the bottom row that is attached to the grill, you may be SOL.

    Pics for reference?

I had bought a few of those plastic clips from a local hardware store. They weren't cheap by any means. After I use them and break them then I am going to zip tie. So if you break them with your flat head, just replace them with zip ties. I got the zip ties from the Dollar Store.
