AAL Installed - Rear Axle Alignment Issues

Why would anyone give you neutral for your help in the thread?

 

I know, that wasn't directed toward you in any way. It was directed toward the other guy who failed to leave his name

 

Here are the torque specs that came with my helper springs:

1/2" ubolt - 50 - 70 ft lbs
5/8" ubolt - 70 - 90 ft lbs

Toyota specs may be a little more specific. These are general specs. These are the same specs that I got when I inquired about my boat trailer.

 

So I loosened the U bolts up and jiggled the bed around. The right side is maaaaaybe 1/16" further forward based on a few different measurement spots on the frame from the U Bolts. Does anyone want to do me a solid and see if their axle is bang on straight?

 

Anybody?

 

I can try to get under there tomorrow but IMO you should be good to go with only a 16th difference.

I've also decided to get an alignment done at the dealership. I'm a bit torn, because the dealership that's close to my work and closest to my house tends to be a bunch of nincompoops, but if they don't get my wheel straight, I can bring it back to them as many times as need be until they get it right. I had to have them try 3 times before in the past...

There's another dealership that's about 20 minutes further away that seems to be a bunch of good guys (most of their techs drive Tacos or 4Runners), but if they don't get it right it's a bit of a drive out there for them to fix it.

Basically, I'm hoping my lift doesn't cause the first dealership to throw their hands up and say "We can't get it straight because of what you did to modify the suspension. We've done our best!" So it's a bit of a gamble on my end hoping that they just do their job.

 

Does anybody have any more insight on this?

 

Sorry, I didn't see your question. I can measure this weekend but I'd be very, very, very surprised if I was within 1/16", my dad and I just eye-balled it when we installed my leafs. A good way to check is to have someone drive behind you and tell you if the rear is tracking straight with the front. If it's off, they will definitely be able to tell and I'm sure you've seen trucks driving down the road with this issue.

 

So you're saying that I should be just fine if that's that's all the further I'm off? I might have my wife drive it and I'll follow her in her 4Runner to double check, but with such a small discrepancy I'd be shocked if I could see the difference with the naked eye.

Also, this is like the third time I've tried to positive rep you and it says I need to give more out before giving it to you again, haha!

I'll measure to see how far off mine is but I'm thinking the same thing, I doubt you'd be able to see or feel anything.

I had the same problem with a guy who helped me out a lot in another thread!

 

Funny Pugga I just noted today I got a neutral rep as well about 2 hours after OP gave me a positive. No name. Me thinks someone may have done it on accident.

Measured today and I am about a 1/32" off. I really feel that you be fine at 1/16".

 

If you want to get work done at a dealership I suggest you find one where the technicians go wheeling. And get to know one. I know, am friends with, and wheel with 2 great techs. One at Groove and one at Stevenison West. Both are great guys, have tons of knowledge and I trust my truck with them totally. It's the best way to go.
