I'm looking at a 2006 dc sb 4wd that's for sale. Looks nice, but it has 180K miles. Owner says they are almost all highway miles (travels all over CA for work), maintenance has been done on schedule, clean title and no accidents.

He's asking $15K, which seems fair, especially around here where Tacoma's seem to sell high all the time. My concern is the mileage. Does anybody think I'll have trouble getting this truck to 300K miles over the next several years? I take good care of my vehicles and do all recommended maintenance.

    Any input is much appreciated.

    You'll be fine on mileage.

I dunno anything about prices, but it does seem slightly high for a 06. But it is 4wd..

I would wait buddy. I've seen a lot less mileage for that price here. Rarely but they pop up here and there with lower mileage.

I wouldn't that much for 180K. I traded in the black 2006 v6 AC Cab 4x4 in my sig in 2010 with 75000 miles on it for 12500 that was a truck with more than half the miles 3 years ago. I know thats no real comparison but I think the seller is a little high on his price.

That seems pricey for 200k miles.

180k is high for that price. Keep on looking for lower mileage, don't rush into it.

I say wait and keep looking around until you find the right one at the right place. I was looking at craigslist everyday day for two or three months before I found mine.

any of the second gen used trucks in that age bracket need to have a thorough frame inspection. I know 2 guys personally that have 05's and have catastrophic frame failures (huge rust holes).

in your area that should be less likely but still check all the same. just because the seller lives near you now doesn't mean he didn't live in the salt belt for years.

Id spend more time looking under the hood and body than at the interior for sure.

That's good advice, thank you. Didn't get the truck, as it turns out. We were going to work a trade for my car along with some cash on top, but the seller backed out. . . So I keep looking, only now I'm better prepared, thanks to you guys.
