Anyone else have this problem? The silver part of my steering wheel (where I hold it the most) is starting to wear off and turn black. Anyone else have this problem? Suggestions? Besides, don't hold that part of your steering wheel. Thanx!

Seriously... hold it by the rim, not the spokes.

The paint on interior parts (any vehicle) is not designed to be a wearing item.
It'll be either molded in colored plastic or chrome.

    Build thread coming soon!
Don't have that problem on my 12... yet. When it happens, I was going to cover it with that 3M carbon fiber film- it'll match the center of the gauges nicely

Should it be covered under warranty? Or is dealer going to say it's normal? I was thinking touch up paint,or a silver marker.

I would think so. You never know until you give the dealer a chance to make it good.

Post a picture and let us see it!

Dealer is going to say it's abuse, and tell you not to hold the wheel there
Silver touch-up paint will come off on your fingers and turn black.

If you insist on holding the wheel by the spokes, you'll need to cover them with a quality vinyl contact film.

Never used plasti dip. What is the benefits of that instead of touch up paint? Does it come in different colors? Thanks.

What type of vinyl film? Sorry but I'm kinda clueless. I appreciate your help.

What if I used touch up paint, then used some of that 3m protective film And covered it with that? Think it would look crappy? I have a bad habit of holding the wheel in the same spot, I'm trying not too.

it would probably look like poo with touch up. you might be shit outta luck on this one.
dealer's going to say normal wear&tear. (you can try to fight it though?) plasti dip is a type of rubber spray paint. you can try that on it and it shouldnt rub off. (plastiderp is not permanent) all i know of is black as the only color available though.

EDIT: i guess there are other colors. (i've never used it so i had no idea)

Let it wear off. Gives the truck character.

My pieces ar black and are becoming very smooth and shiny where I hold the spokes. I like it. :D

    LOL!

My keyboard is over 5 years old. Most of the letters are worn off, and the spacebar, arrow keys, shift key, and some of the letters have "dents" worn into the plastic.

Never heard of this stuff. I checked it out, thanks to you. I think you may be onto something, I might give it a shot! I'm not sure if I should get black or silver. What do you think?

Actually, it's one of two Microsoft products I own that has never given me a problem.
    Microsoft Natural, and mouse.
