I took my truck to Firestone today to get it aligned. After it was done, the guy told me that they could not improve the Caster. My front left Caster is at 2.6 and my right front Caster is at 1.9. He then told me that these settings are due to a wreck/pothole/off road. I bought the truck used with 30,000 miles on it. I've put 6,000 on it for a total of 36,000. The guy before me never got in a wreck and neither have I. I don't take it off road and I don't recall ever hitting a major pothole. What do you think caused this and how would I go about fixing it? How much do you think it will run me?

You may need some aftermarket upper control arms to add some caster.

    this....

I'm pretty dam sure it's impossible to get 2.6* of positive caster with stock upper control arms.

Either the alignment guy is a idiot or he is telling the truth. While your LCA cam bolts could be seized that would have nothing to do with your strangely high caster numbers.

If my memory is right stock shouldn't be able to go much over 2*, but I could be wrong.

With a stock suspension, such as the OP's, you should be able to get over 3* caster.

Yeah, Lifting reduces the amount of caster the stock UCA's can give. Caster should be 2.5* or more.

I think OZ-T hit it on the head. Your adjusting bolts could be seized. OR...the tech doesn't know what he's doing.

Firestone is a pretty reputable shop and the guy seemed very intelligent. I'll bring it by the dealership and see if they can fix it. Hopefully, its only the Cam Bolts. Those are pretty cheap.

Every shop is hit or miss. All depends on the tech. Firestone actually has a pretty bad rep on here. PUStaco85 had a Firestone wreck his LCA mounts. I referred him to the Firestone I use and he has had no issues. I set my appointments up around the schedule of the tech who has been doing mine for years. Same guy every time. When he quits Ill be worried.

While the bolts are cheap the bushings that are most likely also rusted out if they are seized are about $55 per bushing + labor.

This is a result of an alignment done by Firestone, take it to NTB or another shop...

I see everyone is talking about the 2.6 as it is a problem, but the tech told me the right 1.9 is the problem as it should be higher than the left to compensate for the lean of the road.

I know the tech was telling the truth too, because I vere really hard right when I go 40+ mph.
