2013 Tacoma SR5 Radio Dim

I have a 2013 Tacoma SR5. When I have my headlights on in the early morning, evening, or even during the day (when it's raining or what have you), my radio backlight becomes super dim and can't read it. I tried adjusting the illumination wheel on the left of the steering wheel, but no luck. Anything I'm missing here?

 

I am assuming you have the touch screen radio. There are brightness settings in the radio itself.

 

2013 non nav ere. I don't seem to have the daytime mode you mention. I saw it pictured in the manual, but don't have it in my settings. Any ideas?

 

It's there brother, I promise. Mine is a non-nav also. It's a little box that you touch to check on or off.

 

Found it today. Apparently it only shows up when the lights are on. Makes sense, but I couldn't see the display when the lights were on! It was finally dark enough to try it (bought it yesterday)
