Help with my transfer case leak?
i plan on cleaning the hell out of it tomorrow to see if I can pinpoint where the leak is coming from, any clues on where it could be or what I should be looking for?
    Sorry for my ignorance.

That's he transmission man. Not tcase. T case is much further back.

If your an auto check your fluid..well..do that either way. Don't want to run it low.

Could just be a seal up in it.

Well good news is your transfer case isnt leaking. Thats your transmission. If its oil your leaking its probaly a rear main seal. If its transmission fluid(red) its leaking around the bell housing. This is the what you did today thread also, not what you need to do thread which is take to a shop cause either way the tranny is coming out.

Alright bud thanks.. I'm having to learn all this stuff by myself, my dad's not real into trucks, so I have nobody to teach me. But this site is awesome I've learned a ton. It's a manual transmission. I'll check fluid tomorrow.

It's a manual transmission so would it still be red tranny fluid? I thought some manual tranny fluid was yellowish.
Either way, the oil it's leaking is a yellowish brown. I'll take it to get looked at ASAP thanks for your help

That's not the t case just fyi. Transfer case is what the drive shafts go into. That's the bell housing. My money's on rear main seal. I just did mine a few months ago and boy what a pain in the ass. A whole day's work for a fucking $15 seal. I'm an auto though..

Well sounds like tranny fluid..but if you have synthetic oil could be that. If so like said aboupve it's the rear main seal on the motor.

Or it's the seal in the tranny..which would suck. Well..both would really.

Probably have to drop the tranny either way.

It's not synthetic oil. I'll take it ASAP to get it looked at, maybe when I get my magnaflow installed tuesday or wednesday, I won't be driving it until then anyway.

No problem man. But like I said, my money's on rear main seal. Mine looked very similar. And the fact that your skid and rack have a oily brown tinge and look damp says that it's been leaking a little while. Keep an eye on your oil level and make sure it doesn't get too low. You can just add oil till you're ready to do replace it (provided that's what it is). Get a pressure washer and some purple power and go to town then drive it a few miles to get it to operating temp a crawl under it. Mine was leaking dead center at the front of the bell housing where it meets the block which is right under the rear main. Good news is you're a manual which will make it a lot easier.

Thank yall for all the help this place is awesome. And yeah I planned on degreasing the hell out of it tomorrow and pressure washing it to see if I could pinpoint where the leak is coming from. I've been checking the engine oil 2 or 3 times a week and the oil level is fine. I'll definitely let yall know how everything turns out! Like I said, thanks so much for helping and sorry for my ignorance

To kind of piggy back DT's issues (sorry man, sounds like you're on it though).

I just bought Royal Purple gear oil to put in my transmission... what color is it? (if it is indeed purple then I feel dumber already). I've always had red tranny fluid to keep an eye on but now my world is going to, possibly, be turned upside down.
