I started noticing a tink/clunk type noise from my rear end when going over rough surfaces and potholes. Ive been driving with my windows open and I think its in the rear. Any idea what this noise could be or how I can figure it out on my own? I crawled around under my truck a couple times and couldn't notice anything.

I have it too, not sure if bed noise or what!

early morning I get a "clunk" reversing out of my driveway. I attribute that to driveline bindage at the slip yoke. some day I will remove the boot and grease it.

when 4xing, I get it really loud in really twisty stuff. I know my frame and body twists in these situations, could be that, or again maybe the slip yoke releasing tension that it was holding due to a lack of lubrication. my dad's single cab does it too, and is all stock so im not too worried about it.

Well I have a stock Auto truck. Im getting a metal tink type noise from I believe the rear end when hitting potholes, uneven pavement, rough roads etc. I obviously don't get the noise on even surfaces. Really the noise is just annoying as I haven't noticed any difference in the handling of the truck. Ill have to see if it changes when the 4 wheel drive is engaged.

Check if your ubolts are tight first. Check everything for tightness actually.

Could be something as dumb as a loose spare in the carrier or gear in the bed pockets

I actually did check my bed I don't think its that but I will have to check the spare. Sorry for the noob questions but could it be my muffler/tail pipe moving?

So clc, no formula but some good advise.
Check spare, all nuts inc. U-bolts for tightness, grease all drivetrain zerks, then on to mechanical issues, like u-joints. Do all this then get back with results. Good luck.
