alignment question

So now that I have installed 5100's all around, and I set the front at .85, I was wondering about alignment specs.
My truck has had the rear "harsh ride" TSB performed, long ago...I just did the billy's the other day.
I was reading through the TSB info, but there is no mention of my tire size in the bulletin...I am running BFG AT/KO's in 265/75/R16...that size isn't in the TSB info???(pretty much every other tire size is mentioned)
Does anyone know what specs I should bring when I go for the alignment? I want to make sure they don't screw things up...

I have pretty much the same setup, but with 265/70-16s. I had them set the alignment at 0/0/2.1 and I like the results.

 

anyone else want to chime in on this? I am going tomorrow and I want to make sure I have all the info I need. I have zero experience with this stuff, so if anyone can give a head's up about what I need to watch for/ tell the technician it would be much appreciated...

I would also take some advice...I just added 1.75 billys in front...1.5 inch icon aal in back...running 265/70/17s

what are the ideal #s or will the shop know what numbers to do if i ask them to align it?
I suppose 0/0/2.1 could work I have know idea what those numbers mean though

 

camber should be at 0 or close to it
caster 2.1 to 2.1... the caster split measurement is what determines the pull to left or right the split should be 0 to 0.3 of a degree
toe should be at 0

OK that is good news maybe you can help me then because I took mine into a local firestone complete autocare paid $170 for the lifetime alignment and attached are my 2 alignments...the numbers are no where close to what I expected...what do I need to tell the guy to actually get it done correctly?

btw is the rear in spec or does it look ok?

 

Camber looks good. Caster split is slightly on the high side but shouldn't be enough to give a pull. All in all looks good

 

Ideally, you want the following

0 for camber
0 for toe
2.1 for caster

0 for cross caster
0 for cross camber
0 for total toe


Your caster is low...may cause wandering. They should be able to get you within that spec if they know what they're doing. The upper control arms are adjustable, but many places won't know that, they telling them. Maybe go to another shop since you have the lifetime alignment. Call ahead and speak to a manager so you aren't wasting your time. Ask when their best alignment tech will be there and tell them you want an appointment with him. Tell him you're picky and don't mind him taking his time, but you want it done right.

Firestone has a pretty bad reputation on here for their alignments tho...

 

ok that makes sense...I am planning to take it in again today...in a few hours to a different location...I will try to let them know of the numbers I am looking for again, make them aware they can adjust the UCAs if need to get the numbers right, and let them know to take their time please and give them about 2 hours to complete it and hopefully they will just get it done the way I like...I can see why firestone does not have a good rep with my experience so far.

at this point if I can just get all the numbers green I will a lot better...

any thoughts on the rear...does that all look ok back there?

got the alignment re-done again today...it is more in spec...had to sacrifice camber for caster not sure the ride is better necessarily...in fact I may have more wandering or pulling now than I did with the low caster...not sure how but...who knows I think at this point I may be psyching myself out...new numbers are below..I think they are ok as they all fall within or right near spec...these guys at least worked hard to get what I wanted and were willing to make adjsutments based on my set up and what my end goal was.

Excellent advice! Modified suspensions are often difficult to align. My current favorite shop allows me to come inside and help with the job if they are not overwhelmed with work. For unusual jobs, I always offer to pay the hourly shop rate instead of the advertised fixed price. They can't afford to lose money on too many jobs. This has led to outstanding service from three shops in California and New Hampshire. I'm happy to return for more work, and they are happy to do it.
